They're iron. Anything made of iron exposed to the elements is going to rust. That's why the hub is painted. If you scratch the paint or strip it, the exposed areas are going to rust in wet weather.

What Hyrax said.
My last set rusted where i had accidentally wiped the paint off the hub when cleaning down the rotors. Other than that single spot, no rust.

Exposed surfaces on mine show rust too. Not unexpected.

They can't have paint on the swept area - it will just come off the first time you hit the anchors.

When the rotors ship, they are sometimes coated with something to prevent rust that you are supposed to wipe clean before you install on the car. These days DBA just ship in air-tight bags with a satchel of silica.

Check the DBA website. It advises that the rotors are packed in an air tight bag to avoid corrosion, also states that non-fiction areas are painted.

Good - I would never spend money on things that were made up. ;)

The hubs are painted to reduce corrosion but they still get some rust spots... at least mine did
