STI Pink Springs onto a wagon

Postby Shaheenis » Mon Jun 15, 2015 4:43 pm

Guys,

I did so some searches on this but didn't find what I was looking for. I am looking to fit STI Pink springs to my Bilsteins and have a couple of options. Either source some new wagon springs from Japan Parts (~$450 delivered 1-3mths :O) or a forum member has some locally for a Sedan which I could potentially use with Saggy Butt Spacers in the rear.

If I go the wagon spring route, Japan Parts list a number of different part numbers for rear springs of the same year and I am not sure why.

All of them say model A-E?

I have also heard that Preface STI Pinks are lower but not sure if this comes at a cost in terms of ride or stance.

Please share your experience with me .

Cheers,

Just wait for wagon ones to turn up here. They do so occassionally. I was lucky enough to get Bezzza's a few weeks back. (was actually a little surprised someone else didn't beat me to them). Getting them installed at the end of the month.

Problem is I don't want to wait for two long. I emailed Japan Parts and they can't confirm part numbers for my VIN as it is not JDM. I emailed Partsouq.com and the came back with what appear to be the factory springs my car came with.

So I either need someone to give me the Subaru part numbers for genuine STI pinks to suit a BP5 D/E/F (post face) wagon or I need someone with a TBSTI wagon to give me their VIN so I can feed that to PartsSouq.com and see if they come back with Pink Spring parts listing. Problem I suspect is that the springs were fitted 'after market' in Australia by Subaru so the bolt ons are probably not reflected in the VIN anyway :(.

The only ones I can find on Japan Parts which look remotely suitable (as pictured in post above) are:

Fronts:
ST2033021010
ST2033021000

Rears:
ST2038021000
ST2038021010
ST2038021020

Problem is, all of these say they suit the same model with same spring rates and specs which has me stumped.

It is going to cost $100+ shipping so I want to make sure they are correct. Unless anyone knows where to buy STI pinks for a lib in Australia?

Wording does vary slightly. Was having the same issue a while back.
More about weights than anything so 2.5GT vs 2.0GT has virtually no difference.

From how I unscrambled their gibberish I thought it roughly broke down into:

Rear - separates out wagons and sedans

Spec B/tbSTI wagons since it only states TW. GT Spec B and 3.0R
https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/1536

Sedans since it only states B4. Seems to cover GT and 3.0R in both Spec B and non.
https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/1534

Non Spec B wagons since it only states TW. GT and 3.0R
https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/1535

Front -
No difference between wagon and sedan, mainly GT vs 3.0R

Pre facelift all 3.0R and auto non Spec B GT/Blitzen/WR
Post facelift 3.0R Spec B and non, auto non Spec B GT/Blitzen/WR(which I doubt you guys ever see anyway)
https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/1530

This one loosely pretty much covers everything pre and post GT except the few auto GT cars as above

Thanks Andy useful info, would be great to confirm exactly what part numbers someone has purchased and been successful with.

The thing is the one you linked for GTB states BP/BL A-E in the description which refers to pre-face but you wouldn't think the springs would vary but then why would they state specifically A-E? Mine is D-F.

Ignore that first paragraph on the pages, have found with almost everything on japanparts it's more of a general statement of the part rather than specific models it applies to.

That same statement is on all 3 of the rear springs.
Facelift started at rev D too, for JDM at least, not sure when it changed for you guys.

Thanks Ben. I just emailed a dealer for a quote to see if they can still supply the 'lowering kit'. It would be a safer option than ordering from Japan Parts however I think if I order from Japan Parts they will be to suit a JDM 2.0ltr model so worst case the springs will drop the front a bit more due to weight difference. I am also going to shoot Partsouq an email to see if they can supply the kit but I suspect that part number is meaningless outside of Australia.

Lowering Kit - P/No: STIGLOWKIT07 – MY07-08 Liberty GT Spec B (Wagon At & MT)

Edit: Just checked with Japan Parts and the ones recommended for the 2.0ltr JDM are the same part numbers listed in your linked thread so I think that confirms these are the correct ones:

Rear Wagon 6MT: ST2038021020
Front Wagon 6MT: ST2033021010

From Japan Parts this will set me back $500 EMS priority or subtract $90 for 1-3mth wait via sea.

If you're having trouble with finding the right STi spring why not try Prova or Syms?

Confirmed Partsouq don't do them and there are only a couple of sets left through Subaru dealers in Aus and cost is $650 which makes Japan Parts the best option.

I looked at H&R springs which sound quite good but it sounds like the drop would be about the same as STI (not as much as claimed apparently).

Not sure where to get Prova or Syms from. I have read there isn't a lot of travel in the stock Bilsteins so need to be careful not to drop too much. A touch more than the pinks would be nice but probably not more than 5-10mm more.

Both Prova and Syms should be available through Japan Parts or Jesse Streeter. Both sets will drop about 25F/15R
