fitting Brembo brakes

Postby VanillaIce220 » Mon Jun 08, 2015 4:10 pm

Hello, So I will be upgrading to some Brembo brake calipers front and back but i wanted to check if they will fit the rims i currently have. At the moment I have Enkei GTC01 17inch 7.5 wide and offset is 48.... I do not think they will fit but I am not an expert which is why i am here :D, I also saw the first thread on this index topic and saw that 18inch offest 45 did not clear brembo brakes soo it is not looking good.

secondly if they do not fit my current rims, will brembo brakes clear these rims. They are Proworks 18inch 7.5 wide, offset 48

Been doing some research about the other rims because i dont think my rims will fit brembo brakes. Couple of sites but i havent found on with offset 48 so I will continue the research.

and lastly I was told to fit rear brakes (brembo) i need a connector thing i forget the name, so if someone could send a link my way to buy them i would really appreciate it.

Thank you :D

Offset doesn't determine brake clearance, spoke design/backspace does. Your Enkei's should clear, measure how much room you have from spokes to the hub mounting surface.

Ta da, here is an image Hardwarebob sent me when I was looking at buying his brembos. It's a cross section of the caliper and a rotor with all the clearances

Thank for telling me that the offset doesnt matter much appreciate it. So brembos will fit inside the rim? My LGT did run Endless brakes but were sold to pay for medical expenses. I do not know much about the 4 and 6 piston brakes I am yet to learn and research.

It's pretty confusing haha, took me a while. Big block is the caliper and the thin bent looking piece is the rotor, the left side is the front and it only shows the front half of the caliper.

So it's 35.4mm from where the disk mounts to the hub to the outside of the caliper

Hahaha thanks heaps man, I was looking at it going ohh shit what am i looking at, I was about to start drawing diagrams and shit. i sort of figured that the block was the caliper and the smalled thing is the rotors but at least you reinforced it for me.

http://gyazo.com/26a170a6f50c7cc1f9a6faab8f2d0a3f this is a link to hopefully my rims
http://gyazo.com/0c1f0df20681af82e9522957359da66c and these which are giving me high hopes
okay I have been going through the diagram and oh man, my head... up and down my stairs measuring. I have a shit load of clearance between the stock brakes and the spokes i mean from the rotor to the spokes there is like 63-70mm i can fit two fingers down the bulk of it. i feel like they will fit... but i got offer 1k on the proworks rims... which is a tempting offer.

An easy way to find out is to do a Google Image Search for those rims on an STi. Look for any pictures of an STi with those wheels and sporting Brembo's and that's a pretty good confirmation that they will fit.

A quick look suggests that they will fit just fine.
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...

It's all much easier if you have a 3d laser mapping tool. I don't have one, but oh, the things you can do! (mainly in conjunction with 3d printers and/or mills)
