xxr 968 - 18x9x35 Will This Fit 2008 GtB Stock Susp?

Postby Tien GtB25 » Tue Apr 28, 2015 7:24 pm

Hello everybody,

Want to buy the rim below XXR 18x9 (+35) but need your advices regarding:

1) the offset +35 specified - will it be flush with my 2008 GTB? and or how much will it poke out with +35, what are your recommendations?
2) Im pretty sure the guards will need to be rolled to avoid rubbing but with my stock suspension is this still necessary?
3) Will this offset, will the tyres wear out any quicker?
4) Any defect issue with Vicroads / cops ?

The rims are $1550 (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GENUINE-XXR9 ... 19ff3c3f57).

I have read many threads on wheels/offsets on the forum but it doin' my head in... so much time spend already.
Ps - please please please photoshop the rims onto a black GTB for me if possible to see how it will look. Thank you so much in advance.

Tien

Limitted sizes listed below.

Available Sizes:
5x100:
- 17x9 +35 [70mm dish]
- 17x9 +20 [70mm dish]
- 18x9 +35 [70mm dish]
- 18x9 +20 [70mm dish]

5x114.3:
- 17x9 +35 [70mm dish]
- 17x9 +20 [70mm dish]
- 17x10 +20 [110mm dish]
- 18x9 +35 [70mm dish]
- 18x9 +20 [70mm dish]
- 18x10 +20 [110mm dish]
- 20x9 +35 [85mm dish]
- 20x9 +15 [85mm dish]
- 20x11 +15 [135mm dish]

I want to achieve the sqat stance / deep dish / fat tyre look. Hence the simple and clean pattern ..... minimal and not too busy.
Dont get me wrong Enkei / Rota / etc are ok .. but too common. The rare ones are expensive / hard to source ... and the copy / cheapo are everywhere.

not to deter you or anything but i was under the impression XXR was also a cheapo brand similar to that of Rota.

But yeah i think your going to struggle with that list of PCD 5 x 100 offset choices. May have to go down another route

Youre right gone, xxr are mostly considered a cheapo brand.

To give you an idea tien, I run 18x8.5 +45 and they sit flush at the front with virtually zero camber. 8.5 wide is about the widest you can go before issues start occurring, 9" wide you might get away with but personally wouldn't go any lower than +40 for offset otherwise a lot of camber would be needed.

Unfortunately I highly doubt any of the specs you listed would fit

Thank you all for your inputs.

It back to more research i guess as I wanted the deep dish look for my GTB.
There are not alot of options out there for 5x100 ...damn you subaru. Please point me to any manufactures with the deep dish designs people.
Thank again

Im in the same boat Tien. Trying to find a good looking yet unique wheel design that is the right size and offset and still affordable.

Im a fan of the Rays G25 and I really like the look of the Takuma RST. The former is ridiculously expensive and the latter I am not sure they are in business any more.

A lot here have the same sort of style with the multiple thin spoke look, which I dont mind, but find it very common. Everything else just look 'gimmicky'.
Cheers

You're not wrong shav. Pretty much everyone has STi enkei's or rota whatever-they-are's that look like STi enkei's.

Gets a bit old...

Dont get me wrong, no offence to any one who has these wheels, I understand why they are popular, but for me I like to stand out a bit without looking like a clown or a tosser to do so if that makes sense. I've seen some rims that look different and are 'OK' but I'm not one to settle for just 'OK' because it's different. I would be better off sticking with the stock Spec B rims and wait for something else than to just settle.

If you like the G25s take a look at the Weds Sa10r. I've got the Zebra Black on my Legacy in an 18x7.5 +45 but if you want Something a little more aggressive they also come in an 18x8.5 +45 which won't need stupid camber and heaps of guard work to fit.

Congratulation everybody.

All of you who have view this thread and / or reply to this thread are now officially in the competition to source the most agressive looking wheel for the GTB.
As the winner of the competition you will get to see as many pics as you want of that rim.... fitted on my GTB.... come to think of it... if you win ... a few of us will also use the same rim for their GTB.Also ... there's more .... as the winner of the competition, I will meet up with you and shout you to any Macca's meal of your choice x2.... that right ... i will pay for your lunch x2.

The rules are simple ....
1- Photos of rim with deep dish (edit- as much as possible) and simple fat spoke agressive looking designs.
2- Rims must be of type 18 x 8-8.5 max x realistic offset,
3- Where to get it from, hopefully Victoria.
3- how much will it cost, under 2K prefered.

You have until the end of your life to post as many wicked design that you can find.

Goodluck to you all and may the best man win.
Hop to it people !!!
