Noob question...

Are new sway bar link assemblies (e.g. http://www.whiteline.com.au/product_detail4.php?part_number=KLC144 ) essential when upgrading the sway bars or are they just a "nice to have"?
Is there an incremental improvement if they are added at a later time?
In other words, if I just initially upgrade only the sway bar will there be a significant beneficial difference (and no downsides)?

The link assemblies are stronger. To get the maximum benefit of the sway bar I would do it. Otherwise your sway is relying on worn units to transfer weight and keep the car flat. The bar can only be as strong as the links they are connected to. But that is my logic on the matter.

I don't have them.

I just have the sway bar and the HD mount and I'm pretty happy with it. I just do day to day driving with a run in the hills every so often.

You definitely don't need upgraded end links and mounts... people buy them because they make them. Simple as that. The stock for both are more than adequate for street cars. If they fail (which they shouldnt) then replace with after market if you wish.

Used the original Gen4 sway bar links without any issues so far.
Over twelve months since upgrading the rear swaybar.
Stiffened the mounts though.

I have seen photos where the mounts have not been strengthened and the after effects. Not pretty.
Would most definitely stiffen the mounting points on the rear.

I have the BP5 whiteline rear swaybar now set to the stiffest setting and very happy with that. Will install front whiteline later this year. Felt no need for other components cept maybe will purchase cusco underbody brace and whiteline Anti lift kit.
