Spacer plates?

Postby AdamW » Fri Jun 27, 2008 10:54 am

I have just had my Lib 08 lowered using TEIN adjustable suspension and now I have this horizontal gap between the top of my tire and the wheel arch.. Looking at some of the other lowered Liberty’s on here and the wheels seem to fill the wheel arches nicely. Has anyone on here used spacer plates to push their stock wheels out a bit?

I would not do it as the hub centre is what takes the load of the wheel/car not the threaded studs. If you put in spacers you are placing the weight on the wheel studs.

you need to lower the fronts 5mm more than the rears.

that will give u more "balance" is what i've found with mine

You need aftermarket wheels :P 7.5" wide, +48 offset and you'll be fine.

Don't use spacers they're just illegal and dangerous, and they can cause vibrations between your hub and wheels which equals wheels going out of line all the time

Damn you people and your forum.. I had not even thought about getting aftermarket rims.. Now I am out looking for a nice BBS set, and if I get new rims I may as well get new drilled & ventilated brake rotors.. All because I had to lower my car.. and because it has firmer suspension it doesn’t feel like it goes as fast anymore, before as you accelerated, the car kind of dipped in the rear but now its sits flat when you tromp it, so I also need more power mods to give me that ‘kick back in your seat’ feeling again.. When does it end…..

Hey, nice justification

I'd like to think I'm finished with my car, and that everything is adequate for me. I don't drive it enough to warrant asking for more power :P for now...

(Wait till my car becomes a daily again... then I'll want more power then! hehe)

I am only in the country a couple months of the year, so its defiantly not a daily driver.. Burt that only makes it worse.. There is not a whole lot to do in the jungles of central PNG besides work and research & plan more mods to Liberty.. I think the BBS wheels are out.. There are none that I can find that will fit on Liberty (right offset, right width & diameter).. I guess that’s not a bad thing thou, I probably shouldn’t be spending over $6K on a set of wheels when I am trying to renovate my house..

Found another nice set thou.. KAHN RSV 19” 7.5” Offset 45.. They look nice enough on the Aston Martin DBS prototype and a whole lot cheaper than the BBS..

Just double checking.. Lib 08 has 100.0 / 5 stud pattern?

BBS CH would look mint on the Lib :) I was looking at BBS wheels for a while... there are a few that would fit with offset and stud pattern, but BBS wheels aren't cheap...

Not sure about the 08, but the 04-07 are all 5x100.

Yep, still 5x100.

Go 18x8.5 and put some decent tyres on there.
