Front wheel bearing on the way out?

So I just got a set of new tyres for my 04 gen 4, and on the way home noticed a whirring/humming noise coming from the front end when turning left. Thinking it might be my front right wheel bearing?

I have had a look and got some quotes for replacement, varying from $180-$450 for one bearing... Anyone have any advice on how difficult it would be to DIY?

Also, if I chose to go the DIY route, would this part do the job? http://goo.gl/I0ARxj

Cheers guys.

This is also happening with my car but when I turn right, interested to see what people say especially around the costs involved

Its easy to diy if you have access to a really big breaker bar or a decent size rattle gun mainly for the 32mm axle nut.
I broke the nut on one side with a 24" breaker but it took a 6' truck size to do the other side.

As for replacement hubs check the posts about it on LGT, iirc genuine were preferred on the front but aftermarket were fine on the rear, or vice versa...

Part in the picture looks correct. Though most (myself included) prefer OEM for this particular application

Easy straight forward job apart from the hub nut and brake rotor being abit stubborn

So OP how did you go with these bearings?

I have a front that's gone, but am undecided what to go with as on a budget.

I read some of the posts on LGT (thanks Benny) and am more undecided now.. lots of reports of Cruise control issues.

such a huge price difference between suppliers online, hard to tell if the expensive (~$200) ones are even OEM , or a more expensive after markert. Wondering if anyone knows exactly how much OEM are from Subaru?

Here's a pretty decent how to thread from a guru on clubsub
http://clubsub.org.nz/forum/showthread. ... post558064

Also if you guys don't use partsouq for parts give them a go, all genuine stuff at way cheaper than subaru dealer prices.
