I'm getting these on my new wheels. Apparently they're meant to be very good.

WAYNE, N.J. (Nov, 1 2007) – Hankook Tire has created an ultra high performance tire that delivers unrivaled comfort during high speed driving – the Ventus V12 evo K110. The tire continues Hankook’s commitment to bring daily drivers the smoothest and safest ride available.

The Ventus V12 evo K110 utilizes the latest technology to maximize steering response and improve high-speed stability while the tire’s water drainage system ensures safety on wet surfaces. The K110 is a Z-rated street tire with the proven Ventus Ultra-High Performance tread compound, and comes in 25/30/35/40/45/50 series. The directional tread of the tire gives a sophisticated look and improves traction while preventing against hydroplaning. Other benefits include:

* Solid center tracking rib – enhances braking performance and ensures optimal road contact pressure and controlled steering response at high speeds
* 3D effect on block edge – evenly distributes road surface contact for optimal handling and braking
* HPSR (High Tg Polymer & Specific Resin) Compound – ensures outstanding traction and braking on wet roads
* High-density nylon reinforcement belt – allows even distribution of ground contact pressure during cornering
* Y-shape channels, linear grooves and MTR (Multiple Tread Radius) – effectively sweeps water away from the tire

“Drivers are going to notice a real difference when they put the K110 on their cars,” said Hankook Ultra High Performance Tire Engineer Dave Martin. “The technology, developed on the race track, seamlessly delivers one of the smoothest rides out there.”

Mmmm, not sure about Hankook.

I used to rate them rather highly, but then a mate of mine got a set put on his car & it was pretty ordinary in terms of performance (Very little road noise though).

He's since changed over to a set of Michelin Pilot Preceda PP2 & it was significantly better.

In saying that, the model Hankooks he was running weren't the top of the line (K102 I think).

Keep us posted when you get them on. Always got an eye out for good performing tyres :D

I was very happy with the Hankook R-S2 Z212 tyres - they are their top of the range performance tyre. Very high grip, and good value for money too (was $220 in 215/45/17). Also won't have any problems with load ratings either, because all of their tyres are extra load.

Also, with your friend's Michelins, what was the price differential? :P Michies are expensive. Also they aren't made in Japan or France any more, and as of 2006, Michelin own 6.3% of Hankook.

Unsure where they were made to be honest. I try not to get too caught up with that. Most things are being shifted to China these days anyway. Its just a matter of how good their quality control is.

In a 215/45 17 they were $250. I actually ran the same tyre on my stock rims & was pretty happy.

12% extra cost for the Michelins.

Having said that anything prior to the K104s royally sucked for Hankook. Their new tyres are impressive. I was dubious at first, too...
