3.0R Spec B Brake Upgrades

Postby MattyB » Wed Nov 12, 2014 2:48 pm

Hey guys

This is my first post on the forum woo! I bought my Gen4 Spec B about 2 months ago, looking to upgrade the brakes with something a little stronger, getting slotted and drilled rotors sorted and I know that the Tuned By STI brembos would fit, was wondering whether WRX brakes from around the same year would fit or what you guys have put on? :D :D

Cheers in advance, look forward to getting to know some of the guys on here! Will post an intro post tonight!

Matt :D :D

Your brakes are already bigger/better than wrx 4 pots (expect for brembos as you've mentioned).

You haven't really mentioned why you want to upgrade them and what the goal is.

Have you experienced fading?
Are you preparing for the track?

Just looking for a firmer pedel?

Budget?

You might be OK with really good quality aftermarket discs and pads.

I've got a 3.0 RB so this thread is relevant to me. I'm also looking at improving the brakes too, and want to avoid the hassles and extra costs of Brembo conversions.

I think it's been said before on this forum that the Dixcel Type M discs and pads make a big difference for fast general road use, and about the best non conversion option for our cars. Does anyone know if this still the case.?

its been mentioned a couple of times around the forum i think that a set of braided brake lines and a good pad + rotor combo and it will be more than enough for anything the street can throw at you.

Biggest bang for buck would be good pads plus good fluid. It's amazing how badly old fluid performs...

Pads and fluid.

Braided lines next to make the most of it.

Fancy rotors will do absolutely nothing on the street.
