BC BR's

Postby Nooobness » Sat Nov 01, 2014 10:50 pm

Hey guys!
Planning to order some BC BR coilovers from Justjap
Is that the best place to buy it from?

And can someone confirm if this is the correct product for my MY05 Liberty 3.0r?

http://justjap.com/bc-racing-coilover-s ... l9-bp.html

Thanks so much :)

Gonna chuck some 18x8.75 XXR 527's on too!

Cheers

Hi Jon, be careful with the offset of those wheels if lowering. They need to be as close to 40 offset if not over as much as possible. Otherwise be sure to put some negative camber on the wheels to get past ADR's and defects.

Hey shav! The offset of the rims are +35, which is kinda close to the stock setup

If i lower it a bit do you reckon it'll compensate with the induced negative camber? If not, what kind of kit will i need??

have done a bit of reading around here, and making XXR 527's 18x8.75 +35 with 225/40/18 tyres takes a bit of work:

You did a rad job man.

If you don't mind me asking how much was your wheel set-up?
Any clearance issues, much work to get them to fit?

Thanks man, plenty I still wana do.
It was initially $1600 with decent tyres as a package that ozzytyres did at the time.
Not much work, just rolled guards (can pump if you want to run less camber) and then chopped off the connecting corners of the front bar and quarter panels and just put another connection further in, this was to stop scrubbing at those points when low.

also, not to derail, but i heard KiDo coilovers are quite good too, and slightly cheaper!

may need to have some of the more knowledgeable guys chime in on the specifics though...

You'll possible need a camber kit. (not 100% sure on this) to get the amount of camber require to avoid scrubbing. Otherwise rolling guards as well as maximum camber is the only way. The induced camber I dont think will be enough.

thanks for that info bro!
Ill probably just go for a roll and some camber. Not to keen to pump guards because it can damage the paint
Okk KiDo coils look fairly good too! But ill probably just stick to the BR's to stay on the safe side :D

do you know if the BC BR coils will allow me to put a decent amount of neg camber on?

And thanks shav!
Ill have a look into that if needed! :D

Cheers

not sure about guard rolling but coilovers are fairly easy to put in if you can get ahold of a jack and socket set. (could even use scissor jack if your keen). Just get a wheel alignment afterwards

Just to let you know Kido coilovers are just rebranded BC's. Come from the same factory.

Coilovers are easy man, takes 45 to do the rears and halfa to do fronts.
I got bc br's, paid 1200 on ebay for them, brand new

You can wind down the rears so they're as low as they go and you wont have much problem, still pretty smooth if yours are fully adjustable too.

as for fronts, ive got 1cm of thread left on my coils, and it scrubs a little if you wanna get sideways and all that shit... but that's with stock wheels on

ive got 18 inch xxr 530's and they scrub a bit, but what you can do is play around with the camber on your strut top for the fronts and you'll be sweet.

This is incorrect. Just because a product comes from the same factory doesn't mean it's just been rebranded. The alloy bodies may be the same. Valves, pistons, rods, bearings, cylinder thickness etc will all be different.

EG. Shockworks is made by the same people who make Neotech in Korea. Completely different damper...
EG. Entry level Cusco coilovers are also made in the same factory as BC. Would you classify them as rebranded Kido coilovers?
