Help please - Gen 4 spec B tyres setup

Postby Tien GtB25 » Mon Oct 20, 2014 5:32 am

hi everyone.

forgive me 1st if this had been discussed somewhere else... I looked and read many threads already... Maybe I searched using wrong key words.

my ride - Liberty spec B 2.5 2007 Sedan just recently purchased. It had 215 45 18 of which are worn out.
I happen to have a set of 225 40 18 2 months old and I fitted it of which upon reading further on this forum and doing various checks reveal that

- rim diameter now smaller and will effect the speedo reading by around 2%.
Basically 100km will now be something like 97 or 98 and I will be clocking up the kms slightly faster.

- next best match should be 235 40 18 of which will lower the difference to 0.85%.

BUT further reading shows members on here and tyres/wheel packages from Tempe / TTF for example are using 225/40/18 .

should I purchase a new set of 234 and save the 225 for the wife' aurion? And one more thing ... How come most members on here don't have turbo timer fitted ?

Please let me know so I can use that money for tuning the car .. 1st priority for now.
Many thanks.

If you purchase from Tempe check the manufactured date  and remember their tyres are grey imports and are not covered by local warranty.
Also always put shit tyres on the wife's car if she has a accident because of them you can say its payback

You cant put 235 on a 7" wheel
Just use your 225s a lot are using them. I put 225/45r18s on mine I think around 7mm difference 1.3% or something. Next ill be trying 235/40r18s when I get new wheels

Because most people dont' drive their car flat out, get it nice and super hot, then immediately stop and turn off the car. (Which is the only time it ever makes any real difference)

Turbo timers are almost entirely a relic from a bygone era of oil cooled turbos.
