Ok so I made the mistake of driving a 2008 GTR in Japan late last year and now my car feels soggy.

I was thinking front whiteline sway bar kit and H&R springs then a set of 18x8/8.5 wheels with decent tires.

Thoughts on this setup? Suggestions? All I've done to this car so far is a Hi-Tech dp and Kido Tune.

Also where in Sydney should I get the work done?

I'd go a rear swaybar and AVO HD mounts before installing a front one.

You can easily do a rear sway yourself or if not, go to Garage 88 to have the work done.

Do both front and rear swaybars at the same time - it makes all the difference. Rear only is simply a job half done.

Sell your Kidneys and lungs if you want your car to remotely handle like a GTR…. There is a lot more that hardware ensuring that car handles like it’s on rails.

Your best bet would be to head to Garage 88, they are Cusco dealer, let them know what you want and set your budget.

I had the following fitted to my car before I sold it.
• Cusco Zero 2E custom valved coilovers with 10 and 11 kg springs, with Econ electric dampener controller
• Cusco Front and Rear Sway bars
• Cusco Front and Rear End links
• Cusco rear sway bar reinforcement bars
• Cusco front and rear lower braces
• Cusco driver and passenger floor brace
• Rear Racing Ikeya chamber arms
• Rear Ikeya billet diff cradle bushes
• JSpeed Racing Front lower bushes
• Cusco rear strut tower brace
• Also wider wheels and tyres, JDM tb sti wheels 18x8 +48 running a 235 tyre.

Car handled like a dream (not a GTR sadly), a quick change of the dampener setting made it a confortable daily, then for track sessions and spirited driving it would be easily tightened with a press of the button.

ok So I got this response from G88

"For minor suspension upgrades, we have found the Tein S-Tech springs to be a good option that is inexpensive. Actually a lot of cars run them as they offer a great ride as well, and at the $440 plus $180 for installation and a recommended wheel alignment at $85. These springs also lower the car by 25-30mm, so that ticks off 2 boxes. Otherwise you could go down the route of fitting coilovers which we suggest the Tein Street Advance which are a fully adjustable setup and comes in at $2380 + $220 for installation

I would also recommend upgrading the swaybars, which i have both the front and rear units in stock, $285 and $265 respectively. installation is $55 for the front swaybar, and $45 for the rear unit, which we can have installed and aligned at the same time as when the springs are installed to save cos on an additional alignment required each time a suspension component is altered.

Regarding the tyres, this will probably offer the biggest notable difference, considering it will enhance both wet and dry driving condition performance. one particular one which comes to mind are the Nitto Invo's which are excellent all round tyres. This is the most common tyre upgrade / replacement for the majority of our customers as it is a proven winner for those chasing good performance, great tyre life and low noise. In saying that, there are other options which can be had for cheaper.

Total $2655 with Springs option
Total $$4635 with Coilover option"

Thoughts? I would be going with the springs and swaybars then getting a set of rota gravels which will hit my budget.

Sounds like you've got it figured out...... I had tein springs before coilovers

So it looks like I'll be going with the Stech Springs, Cusco Sway Bars, HD End links Front and Rear and a set of 18x8.5 +44 Gravels with the Nitto Invo Tires.

Should I go for 235 or 245 rubber that's the question?

Pending the tyres manufacture, go for the widest tyres you can.

Remember stretched tyres might appeal to the blind and stupid, but they don’t do any justice to handling, side walls best work when they are perpendicular to the road.

You might need some guard rolling with that wheel and tyre combo.

I went to get my new wheels and tyres fitted today.

I got to ozzytyres only to be told that the tires I had already payed for and had set aside for me, had been sold so I would have to come back tomorrow.

Annoying but whatever I couldn't really do anything about that so I decided to at least have a look at the wheels though before I left (I had them delivered straight to the workshop)

ROTA sent 3 dark hyper black wheels, one with paint chips on 2 of the spokes and a third that was the wrong colour, also damaged! Significantly!

What the F*** haha I thought getting new wheels and Tyres was supposed to be pretty straight forward

AutoGT that's some seriously bad luck!!!

Sounds as thought the S-Techs are the route you've gone; I can't say for Liberties, but guys I know with them in Foresters love them. I had Tein Street Advance in my Foz, awesome bit of kit.

I'd be wondering if the wheels were damaged by the workshop as well. I'd be asking for my money back after they pulled a trick like selling tyres you'd already paid for out from under you, and finding another vendor.

Don't make the mistake of buying springs; get coil-overs. But if you're function > form, then get a full set of sway bars and end links first.

Picked up the car today, pretty happy with it I guess coilovers would have been a better option than the S Techs but honestly it feels a lot better to drive than before. The tires are great as well.

I fear I may now need more mods haha (exhaust first and a retune)
