STI Springs PFL 2.0 & FL 2.5-all the same?

Postby GTbee » Sun Jan 26, 2014 3:35 pm

Are the 2.0 Gt TbSTI MY06 springs the same as the ones on the MY2007+ Tb STI models (not withstanding and differences in sedan to wagon)?

I'd say not due to the different weight of the 5mt vs 6mt.
There is master list of spring part numbers on lgt iirc :)

Someone linked this doc which is another piece of the puzzle.
It confirms that each model gets different part numbers according to total weight and or weight distribution...

Lowering Kit - P/No STIGLOSKIT05 - MY06-08 Liberty 3.0R Spec B (Sedan 5AT)
Lowering Kit - P/No STIGLOWKIT05 - MY06-08 Liberty 3.0R Spec B (Wagon 5AT)
Lowering Kit - P/No STIGLOSKIT06 - MY06-08 Liberty 3.0R Spec B (Sedan 6MT)
Lowering Kit - P/No STIGLOWKIT06 - MY06-08 Liberty 3.0R Spec B (Wagon 6MT)
(The 3.0 R Spec B Lowering kit comprises lowered coil springs that are both firmer and lower than standard fitment. Vehicle ride
height is reduced by approximately 15mm, thereby giving an aggressive stance. Springs come in STI’s trademark ‘Cherry Red’ colour for instant recognition.)

Lowering Kit - P/No STIGLOSKIT07 - MY07-08 Liberty GT Spec B (Sedan AT & MT)
Lowering Kit - P/No STIGLOWKIT07 - MY07-08 Liberty GT Spec B (Wagon AT & MT)
(The GT Spec B Lowering kit comprises lowered coil springs that are both firmer and lower than standard fitment. Vehicle ride height is reduced by approximately 15mm, thereby giving an aggressive stance. Springs come in STI’s trademark ‘Cherry Red’ colour for instant recognition.)

Lets see...
The first table is USDM: iirc their GT was 5MT and their GT Spec B was 6MT.
There's a further complication (maybe not as regards springs) as USDM Spec B struts are different from JDM and AUDM.
IIRC the USDM have thicker front upper mounts. http://www.pimpmyauto.com/Legacys/Docs/ ... Struts.pdf

The second item is an AUDM promo w/ part numbers and its postFL specific...

Anyhow from memory I've only seen disappointed buyers with the lightest car, eg 2.0i 5mt who got STi springs and didnt get much lowering at the front. I think that's the biggest danger apart from using 2.0L Sti springs in an auto for eg and going too low.

cruisn is the man on the subject as he's imported heaps of STi springs and shocks so here's a search based on that, I'll review it myself later ;)
