Help needed!

Hey all,

I found a towbar that I'm interested in buying but am unsure if it will fit my 2007 wagon. There are no markings to indicate whether it's suitable or not.
There is a hand written tag with "Liberty 2005 +" on the towbar and nothing else. If anyone can identify this towbar, I would really appreciate it! :D

Cheers!

From memory there's no reason it shouldn't fit.

To be sure, contact Subaru Parts, give them your VIN and ask them what towbar part numbers are compatible with your car. They will be able to then tell you if that part number is the same across certain year models and whether or not there is a difference between the Sedan and Wagon parts, giving you a better idea if you should buy it or not. They can even fax/email you an exploded diagram so you can see how it all fits.

Hi there Jiyujin,
Me again.

Here is a link to a full description for fitting a Subaru Tow Bar to a Gen 4 Wagon
I used the link to study the installation before preparing to fit the tow bar to my own car.

Here is another link to a sedan install on this forum.

The sedan and wagon tow bars have different part numbers and the brackets going into the body to replace the bumper mounts are different.
Compare the parts you have to those shown in the install part by part and check.
Cheers!

Hey HyRax,

I contacted Subaru and their part number doesn't match the number that is on the plate under the towbar....
The number on the towbar is SAT0001LS 24-05, and Subaru's part number is L101AAG100
They had nothing similar to the number I gave them... :?

Thanks!

Hey again BillyCorgi,

Thanks for those links, very handy when I start to install it. I had to order the clip removal tool thingy from eBay before I can do anything.

Cheers!

That means it's not an official Subaru part - it's a Subaru-compatible part from a third-party manufacturer.

Try a Google search on the part number and see if you get any hits on manufacturer.
