I have done a few searches on here and on the internet as a whole and still not finding straight forward answers.

I am looking for handling suggestions. Best bang for buck kind of ideas. What would i be best upgrading first to get a good return for the investment.

I will be getting better tyres next time i need a new set/when i buy some bigger mags so not tyres.

Details: MY04 liberty 2.5i manual. Stock everything.

Good sticky rubber

Rear Sway Bar and Heavy Duty Mounts

Coil overs

Start with the sways....

then LCA bushes.......

then start thinking about shocks, springs, etc.....

Are brakes on the menu?

I installed a front strut tower and it made a nice difference.

I would only do LCAs if they are shagged and need to be done.

That is money toward coilovers.

Coil overs: No doubt best bang for buck...

I also agree, and they were my first mod - I just didn't list them, as I felt the OP was after cheaper mods.

BC BR coilovers - $1200, worth every cent.

Quality urethane LCAs fix Gen 4 crap off-centre steering feel - great bang for buck.

They're still around and cherished .

OP wants to increase handling not steering feel.....

I was looking at power mods and with a hitachi ECU on a NA 2.5 I am realistic and I wont really be getting anywhere so I ideally would like mods that can be transferred to a GT in the future. Everything that people have been suggesting should be transferable. So well done on that part!!

Brakes are on the menu. Nothing over the top but better pads, discs and braided lines are a possibility.

Coilovers are on the cards for the future but I am looking for things that could be done a bit cheaper to improve the feel now before i get to the coilovers.

Personally i don't think steering feel and handling are totally unrelated. From experience better steering feel lets you know a lot about what is happening with your handling and where the limits on the handling are which means you can drive a lot closer to the limit of handling.

"Handling" is just about a human being's intepretation of a vehicle's behaviour - inspiring confidence......

That's why tyre and suspension debates exist......
