Hey guys,

After countless searching I still couldn't really track down a thread I could relate too! I'm needing to replace the struts in the GT wagon and most likely springs so I can lower it approx 20mm, we are mainly chasing ride quality as we travel a lot of Kim's on shitty roads, also towing an enclosed bike trailer at times! What is in your eyes the best bang for buck setup for outright ride quality without being too soft that it'll drag its ass towing the trailer, also the rough cost Of each setup. Was leaning towards a bilstein or koni setup but also unsure what springs to run that'll suit us.

I'm in the same situation. I find it hard to believe no body has upgraded there springs to a slightly stiffer spring rate. In the real world I think the standard setup is too soft to carry its rated load capacity especially if towing a trailer with the family in the car. The GVM is 2010KG and the suspension would be dumped with that weight. Subys are know for draging their arse that why the spacers where made but that is a bandaid solution and a higher spring rate is needed. Of course there will be a slight compromise to ride qaulity, maybe thats why they don't come with stiffer springs?

Don't pink springs drop the car approx 15mm from standard spec B height? They would want to be a fair bit stiffer to not sag more than the spec B when the car is loaded considering they already give a 15mm height drop. What are the actual spring rates of Spec b springs and Sti pinks?
Are there specific Liberty pink springs or they are the same across wrx sti and liberty?

mine dropped the front 10mm and actually raised the rear 5mm.
so they are stiffer and resist the loads much easier.

Also the billies and pinks are unique to the Liberty TB STi models. may be available from Japanparts but i'm unsure of the right part numbers.
Sedan and wagon are also different.

Also worth noting.
weigh your trailer with a set of bathroom scales under the jockey wheel when loaded up. you shouldn't be seeing more than 100kg on the towball
If you are, move the axles or load the trailer differently

I've got a high sided 6x4 camper trailer and it only puts 40kg on the towball when loaded with my gear, it's enough weight to keep the trailer from banging and it tows perfectly with no noticible weight on the car

Have not measured ball weight yet still renovating it, changing floor to aluminium etc , this is also going to sound silly but have been looking, where on earth can I buy the STI pink springs?? I have a bilstein supplier but am I going to have to go to Subaru for the STI pinks and is there only the one style of spring and rate?

The hard part is figuring out the correct part #'s.

ST2033021010 (front sti springs
ST2038021020 (rear sti springs

in the description it mentions "Tuned By STi BLitzen" models
which had the same setup
Also available from your local subaru dealer for $150 per spring

I can't confirm that 100% myself.

But we supplied VIN details to our local subaru parts slinger and he came up with those numbers

the japan parts link also gives you the spring rates in N/mm
So after applying conversions the TB STi ones are rated at
Front- 4kg/mm
Rear- 6kg/mm

whereas the stock specB ones are only around 3.5 and 5kg/mm

Strange that your front dropped 10mm when you fitted the pinks with the higher spring rate 3.5kg vs 4.0kg. This leads me to believe it's either progressive rate or a shorter overall spring than the standard spec b
You didn't measure the spring free lengths by any chance?

the fronts are supposed to be shorter/ lower than the stock specB.
my rear went up probably because of a little sagging with age, and maybe the H6 Wagon is heavier over the rear? mine does have a towbar too.

Look at Japanparts or AVOJDM and they're about the same price
