Just deciding between these two kumho's for the Lib

Ku36

Thoughts!!! If they run out in 20k i dont care as i dont do alot of k's either.!! School runs!!!

Not sure about the 39's but the 36's have a fair amount of noise come from them anywhere above 60 km/h. Like a low frequency hum

what do you actually want out of your tyres? cos they're 2 very different tyres.

At that price you could just about get a set of Potenza RE002 tyres. I just put them on my car and they're incredible for road tyres. Low noise, heaps of grip and very responsive I was looking at the KU36s but seems they're very noisy and kind of useless in the wet

That sums them up pretty well. Good in the dry though

Just did a quick search.... 235/40/18 for the Potenza RE002. Too wide for the stock 7.5" rims on the Sti.

I have never really had a REALLY sticky tyre in the dry and wanted one. But they MUST not be useless in the wet as that defeats the purpose.!!!

Im leaning towards the Ku39 for more of an all round tyre, but sticky in the dry & wet.

Heaps of people run 235/40/18 on the 7.5" STi rims, it's probably the widest you'd want to go but not too wide I'm running 235 on my 7.5" 17" wheels and about to do the same on my stock rims once they're painted.

Plus 235/40/18 is a commondore size so they're cheap

I have had KU39s for a while and I'm happy with them. They are a good tyre for the price.
They have good performance and aren't noisy.
You'd have to be doing something wrong not to get more than 20000 out of them.

I also run 235/35/19 on a 7.5 inch rim and it's perfectly fine.

I have also run 245s on an 8 inc rim in the past with no issues.

Went to Tempe Tyres to go get my awesome 225/45/18 KU39 Kumho's fitted.

Drive the 50 odd minutes to Tempe and get told that they had 'accidentally' sold my tyres !!!

WTF ...!!!??

I then get told that they didn't have much choice of tyres in 225/45/18 except for some KU31's and the Pirelli P zero's. Now i have the pirelli's and im not a fan. So scrap that size

What about factory 215/45/18.... Ooohh only pirelli's in that upper range tyre

So only got choice in 225/40/18. So long story short i have a set of Goodyear eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's on.

Now besides the fact that they have EAGLE on the side walls in rather big print they are a very attractive tyre ( i know im odd ) and the ride is super sssssmmmmmoootttthhhh. Noise is a little better then the shagged pirellis and re050a's.

Now i have put the nitrogen air in them as i was told it helps keep them uniform under load and makes them wear better.... I think i got sold...!!!

Haven't chucked them into any corners yet. But i did turn a corner at my 'normal' speed and they felt like were just chilling out. So far so good.

Ah hate getting screwed around, even more so after a decent drive to get there!

From memory Jslayz has them on his wagon and loves them! So you picked a winner with the eagles

Good decision I have seen the way you drive down the Bells Line Of Road and the Ku36 can be a little less forgiving on the wet sections .

iv got ku36s on 18x8 rims 225/40 tires.
amazing in the dry once warm, but in the wet its a different story
