just wonderin if anyone has tried the G4 racing coilovers or if anyone knows anything about em?
(I got a 4gen lib wagon)

Im sure your aware of Tein Coil overs.
Get a price off Phat GT (PM Him) & you wont even consider that crap!! for the price difference, There is no comparison.

There's a thread just a few days ago about this exact same topic.

Mate, if you're going to get this, ensure to get the correct spring rates. Normally get the Front at 6kg and Rear at 4 kg!!

Ok i know this topic has been some what thrashed but i just found out that D2 - Ksport - G4 coilovers are all the same, they all come from the same company just marketed differently through different names and colours, etc. anyways i was wondering if anyone has checked out their site www.d2racingsports.com.au theres some tech info on there and a....well apparently a 'German shock absorber durability test report'..can anyone determine the results? anyways i know if you search D2, G4, etc on the net theres some good and bad info, but i mean theres always some one whoes gonna have something negative to say.

I agree they may not be the best coilover out there compared to your Tiens, HKS etc. but for a purley street based car i wonder how they'l hold up. sure they may have had their problem in the past, but as with everthing we learn from our mistakes and maybe thev've improved the quality...they apparently now have a 'improved model' im not looking for someone to tell me these are great coilovers cause they very well may not be. But for $1000, 12 month warrenty, serviceable in AUS...i wonder if i should take the plunge????

any comments??? sorry i dont mean to be rude, but if there not helpfull, please keep them to yourself.

I have K-Sport coilovers on my car and have no complaints whatsoever....the price was good and the ride is good too!

As i said in the second post GET A QUOTE of Phat GT & IMHO for the price difference it's defiantly worth paying the extra $$$.

I'm not sure about the brands your after but some brands don't make a full adjustable coil over for the GEN-IV wagons, the ones that they do supply don't have the independent height adjustment.
Which then leads me to the next question if they are only for street use & your not concerned about the quality & longevity why do you want coil overs????
Save your money & only get springs. I hear the Tein S-Techs are really good

One last thing, no matter the brand you get make sure that who ever installs them really knows what there doing with coil overs & has plenty of experience with setting up coil overs, any supposed suspension shop or mechanic can install coil overs, hell even I can. But its the set up prior to installation & once there fitted that makes the difference.
E.G. a mate brought a set of D2's for his Foz had them installed by pedders (think what you like of them) & they were so noisy that he pulled them out, & he told me i was mad getting coil overs for that reason. I Got Tein Flex & had IS Motor sports install them, the 2Hour drive was absolutely worth it I have zero noise & a lot of that i not only put down to the brand but the extra little things he did prior to installation.

hey mate thanks for the input, i still maybe going just springs but i was just weighing up my options. i want coilovers purley for the amount i wanna drop, if i just got springs for the amount i wanna drop it would stuff my shocks. im looking at probably an extra grand for a name like Tein etc and 2grand on coilovers for a N/A street car seems a little to steep IMO.

Im a fitter/turner by trade myself so i feel quite competent on doing the install, i would however take it to a quality shop to do the alignment, final touches etc.

Ive rang a few places asking about the H&R sport springs cause they go closet the the amount i wanna drop while still being safe for the shocks and im looking at close to a grand for them to supply and install or around $650 just to supply so i was thinking for a grand i can get coilovers.

Heh-heh. Just gonna play devil's advocate here, so sorry CJ.

As much as I love my Teins, I'm also an advocate for each person getting what's most suitable for them. It's a category in which I believe the phrase 'to each their own' applies. What may be perfect for one person may not be suitable for the next. A lot of people are specific about what brand they go with because they are very picky and specific about what they want from their mod. It's just like cars, right. The Subaru Liberty is a great car, but not everyone is going to get one because it's just not suitable for them even though they can afford it.

Anyway, first of all, go with coilovers. From what I read about your specific requirement for ride height, this is the only way you'll be happy. Because I too thought I would get the lowest springs possible to achieve the ride height I was after. But even after lowering 4 cars on 10 different sets of springs, I still wasn't happy until I made the switch to coilovers. I am very picky about the ride height. Either the front gap is too big compared to the back, or the overall appearance is not what I expected.

With coilovers you get what you want. Plus you want to lower it some more to see what it feels like? No problem. Ride too rough and you want to go back to the previous height? No problem. Try that with springs and you'll either have to get a new set each time or you pay for resetting the springs (heating up the coils) over and over again. Not good for the integrity.

Secondly, if you're not planning to track the car or do anything too wild, and your Lib is just like mine in that it's 'street spec', it's ok not to get the top brand. Like Subie Boy, he just wanted it lowered to a specific height, put on some bling wheels, and look damn good while cruising. The K-Sport provided that and kept him within budget. Yes, some people hate the lesser brands, but they do fulfill a segment of the market not looking for top notch. Plus if they were as bad as people say they are, they would have gone out of business a long time ago.

And lastly, take CJ's advice and get a good and experienced installer. Nothing worse then bringing your pride and joy to a garage only to have the guy say "Wow, never worked on one of these before." Next!!!

Good luck. Just decide what you're looking for in this mod, and ask those specific questions to the people who have the product you're thinking about (ie- ask Subie Boy about how low he went, the ride quality, noise, any mechanical issues, and overall handling).
