Goodyear F1D5s 235/40/R18 onto stock Rims

Just thought this would be useful info to others looking at replacing tyres on stock rims or just after a good set of new Tyres. I successfully had 235/40/R18s installed on the factory 7 inch rims with no issues so far whatsoever. I asked the tyre dealer for their recommendation and they said there was no issue and checked all clearances with no problems. I should mention the car is stock height too. The 235/40/R18 are also a common Ford or Holden tyre (can't remember which one) which makes them cheaper. I paid $249 per corner on a Special.

I will also comment on the Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5 tyres. I know the asymmetric 2 is a higher end tyre and more popular but the D5 I think looks great and is an excellent choice for those who aren't intending to race their car every day. It is the first time I have tried a Goodyear tyre and decided it was time. Previously I was scared off from the older model that tended to get noisy once worn ( according to some). Apparently thisvtyre is a different formula and not prone to this issue. I can say that it gets a thumbs up from me for road noise, grip, handling and looks. Given my car has a stock exhaust and is quiet, I just drove 500ks to Coffs Harbour and they are nice and quiet for a directional tyre.

Very interesting tyre size in the title indeed

Good write up on the D5 and at a great price.
I've had 235's on a 7" rim before and although they fit ok, after 20-30k kms you'll notice premature wearing on the centre of the tyre.

If I get 20-30K out of them I will be a very happy camper .
