hi, im looking to lower my gen 2 wagon 30mm or so but can only afford to do this with springs so was looking for some advice... (dont say save for CO's because that wont be happening).

I have heard that for independent suspension that you need to put camber kits on after the springs to stand the wheels back up to near 90 degrees (cant afford to run hecktic camber and replace my Federal tyres every 6 months cuz theyre scrubbed out). any tips would be greatly appreciated... here is a pic of what it looks like now at standard height

my 96 gen2 wags had camber bolts in the front stock and the rear didnt change much
im running HKS lowered springs in mine which will be parting out once i pick up my 3r-b in a week or two


mine went down probs about 30mm in the front and 20 in the rear changed the handeling massivly

Oh ok cheers mate.... If your parting out soon would you sell the springs by themselves with the camber bolts or would you be selling the whole strut assembly? Cuz I would probably be interested in the springs by themselves depending on price.

find some 2004 STi struts, complete set with springs and strut tops should run you about $350
with stock black STi springs it will sit like this (car shown with 8mm spacers in the rear to make it level)

if you get hold of some STi pink lowering springs it will sit another 15mm lower

I dont really think thats low enough for me. It looks not that much lower then what mine is already. I want at least 30mm drop because wheel gap is a very very bad thing. But thanks anyway. looks like it will be kings with camber bolts for me.. i would like it as low as the attached picture. i love this look and those were the rims i was originaly looking at purchasing too... these are 17's but i was looking at the 18's but were just too expensive. image:Legacy Owners Association/SlammedWagons, user:98legacywagon.

Holy crapola that Legacy has some rust! Perhaps the struts broke through the towers!?

30mm lower should hopefully not have you into hektic camber territory with the camber bolts wound out as +ve as possible. You'll also find larger toe settings will destroy tyres much faster than camber.

haha yeah that ones pretty stuffed in the door there... and yes ill be sure its running true. after i finish with everything suspension wise im sending it in for a front and rear whel alignment to fix everything up. when i lowered my skyline i had previously we had issues with the rear diff positioning rods moving. im guessing i wont have this problem because of the lack of a live rear axle? (sorry im a bit noobish on suspension components and the cars pretty new to me)

as i said another 15mm lower than mine by using STi lowering springs (or equivalent teins, etc) will be 30mm lower than yours.

king springs are sh!t, but if you want it as low as the green one then it doesn't matter what you use. It'll handle and ride like crap anyway.

I see your signature says something about using the legacy scoop as a CAI.
waste of time and effort. Do some reading on high and low air-pressure areas of a car and you'll find that the tried and proven in-guard CAI is the best option

Coilovers......

for what i want, coilovers are way to expensive. sure maybe if i was taking it to track days or whatnot but because for me form>function and im on a part-time job budget, springs will be the answer.

Springs at your intended ride height will be a horrible ride.

I dont track my any of my cars nor drive them hard. Coilovers are purely to be able to get the exact height I want.

I really can't see you getting even height with the front that low like the green one... Unless you do coilovers.
