I was intending to make a how-to rebuild coilovers guide... but really there's heaps out there so instead I combined my two interests, photography and cars, into a visual guide.

These BC V1's were from Gambit's beast.
This rebuild/refurbish wasn't going to work out as a major financial advantage due to so many parts being replaced (engine bay fire), but I could see the fun in the challenge.

Essentially the only parts I didn't replace on the front pair (left to right in the pic) were the camber plates, lower bearing nuts, top hats, springs and the lower mounts and mount lockrings...
Which meant replacing: Adjusters x2, top nuts x2, bearings x2, boots x2, bumpstops x2, dampers x2, spring seats x4 and upper x2 and lower lockrings x2...

I was very lucky to have assistance from Cruisin, who straightened, sandblasted and arranged anodizing for the camber plates. Previously red, they're a stealthy matte black now!

Darron, manager at JustJap the Aus distributor of BC Racing was very helpful with sourcing the parts and very upfront about the expense involved.
I had most parts delivered within a few days which was great!

The final cost was just under a complete replacement front pair... But considering that, this was a very unusual scenario: most coilover renovations would require only dampers to be rebuilt or bearings to be replaced.
According to Darron:
"all BC's can be rebuilt so all are fully serviceable and shock/strut body insert and all mounting parts can be replaced to rebuild the BC Racing Suspension range."

Peace of mind if you are considering a great value performance upgrade for your ride.

Cheers! :D
Only a little more than an hours fun - the contour job is less than perfect
The perspective is natural - with a little realignment to get it all on axis...

5d mkii, 50mm f/1.4, polariser filter, 4x bowens 500 monoblocs with soft boxes/shoot thru brollies, 2x SB800 under translucent product table... :D

Can do a setup pic. The Bowens are very reliable and tough - a great mid-range option.
The Gemini 500's can be run from a Bowens battery for location work...

Cheers, Mark. Your assistance absolutely crucial, as was your encouragement!

If anyone has some cool parts to make photos of, let me know. 8)

Just need to score some black perspex before stepping it up!

Shoot it with dark field lighting... Mmmm...

The point here is to establish that one can deliver a result, then maybe seek more opportunities.
But like I mentioned that was a rush job...

That looks great! Isometric views like this are always great and illustrate far better than any other view I can think of (and certainly better than outline pics).

Now you just need to make it animated, slowly coming apart. :)

Good stuff Benny!

Now take apart your entire car so we can get a cool photo of that too.
