DBA X Series Vs 4000 Series

Postby suff » Fri Dec 07, 2007 12:18 am

HI Everyone

Looking at doing a minor brake upgrade on my Liberty..

I have used the DBA X series rotors on a few cars in the past with Bendix 4WD pads, and found it to be a good improvement on stock.. this time I am after a little bit more.. The car will never see a track, and may occasionally see the strip, but brakes wont be needed there :)

Wondering if people have had much experience going from an X series rotor to a 4000/5000 series (and was it worth the extra cash?)

Planning on Using Bendix Ultimate or Ferodo DS2000 (what ever I can get my hands on first)..

Open to suggestions.. have a budget of approx $800-900 for F&R's and will be changing the brake fluid at the same time.. (and adding braided lines down the track)

Get yourself a set of 4000s and a set of Endless CCA pads. Should cost you around 700 all up.

Hi Norbs..

F&R for $700? sounds damn cheap to me!

I bought a set of secondhand rotors for my car with pads. DBA5000 slotted front, DBA Gold slotted rear. DS2000 pads up front (stock pads rear). Happy with the way it performed.

I was told that the rotors are approx. $1400 in itself - might be a bit of an exaggeration, probably around $1000ish. I know DBA5000 is overkill on the roads though, but at the price I bought them for, it was an offer I couldn't refuse!

Just fronts. Don't worry about the rears.
