Wheel and Trim I DONT Recommend

Postby snowbro » Mon Apr 23, 2012 6:44 am

Just had a REALLY bad experience with OZZY Tyres - not only did they try and sell me wheels that wouldnt fit my car, but they also fitted them and damaged the car and NOW wont give me my money back. (and Im a first year apprentice so dont have it to spare).

So DONT buy from them - they take your money up front and dont delivery and damage your car in the process.

I was silly and seduced by the flash and bling in the windows, wont do that again.

I steer clear of those big wheel/tyre places like TTF in Vic.

I find they dont know what theyre on about most of the time and will fit anything to your car just to get your money.

I rang Ozzy tyres once about some rims and the salesman actually got in a huff when I told him the offset he was recommending would cause rubbing with 225's on my car. Blatantly told me it wouldnt. Cock head.

I understand snowbro's frustration and annoyance at what has happened. In fairness though to Ozzytyres, or any other business for that matter that we might not be happy with, I think it's only fair that snowbro give us some specifics about exactly what went on - I would hate to see Ric or anyone else on this really great forum get in trouble for the wrong thing being said or, maybe, the right thing but in the wrong way.

So, snowbro, tell us what happened and, who knows, we might be able to help you get it fixed.

cheers,

bj

Wheel and Trim I DONT Recommend

I ALWAYS take photos of my rims and sides of my cars when take them to tire shops. I've been burnt in the past and also get the manager to verify that there is no damage.

Sounds extreme but so is paying for repairs done by careless employees

The Jax in Merrylands (NSW) have been overly conservative, if anything, with me in the past.

Jax Quik Fit isnt a "big" place like the TTF's, etc.

Although I wont go back to the local Jax's after a face palm moment...... or two.

I had a bad experience with Ozzy at Hoxton Park a while back. I ordered a set of tyres and they confirmed they were instock ready to be installed. I got there travelling from the hills only to be told they do not have it and will get it in! I expressed my dissapointment and told them I had called in advanced (speaking to the same person on the phone), and travelled a long way for nothing. I rcvd no apology of their mistake. Their answer: and I quote ;"If you're not happy, go somewhere else, we have other customers waiting"! There was never a need to go back there ever since..

My advice to u Snowbro..if they dont have the courtesy to admit their mistake or rectify their mistakes, they wouldnt mind losing you as a customer as they feel they would have many more ppl coming through the doors. It's prob not worth pursuing.
It's not a way to do business one may think, but I guess that's the way some businesses roll.

Oppositely,...speaking of Jax Merrylands...I used to live on the same street...great service..but very small shop...so you should book :)

Yeah I learnt my lesson a few years back - I wanted specific tyres and they gave them to me, and fitted them - they were rubbing on the struts in the rears and i went back - they said I was at fault for having the tyres what I wanted - they could have prevented me to buy them. So I left the car for them to fix up and they said they'll change to narrower ones... got a call they resolved the problem and I couldnt understand how and it wasnt rubbing and they said they aligned the wheels up - was disbelief because I knew that rears cannot be cumbered out, about 10,000kms later when I was doing the brakes, I found out the answer - they fitted washers inside the brake discs to move the discs out to be able to fit the rears on. Took the car back where I bought them from, they just shragged - I said I'll set ACCC against you, they laughed - at the end of the day I didnt have proof. So took the tyres off. It was TTF in western suburbs of Melbourne. So yes I'd steer clear from them.
Cheers
