Who else is running with nitrogen ? and who refuses to use it and why don't you

from memory, a mate who works at bob jane told me they put nitrogen into their more expensive, high performance tyres because of the fact that it helps keep them at a constant pressure and reduces wear

So in theory it should work with all tyres no matter what the cost ???

yeah it'll work with all tyres, i think its just something bob jane only do for their pricey tyres

I've got to ask, did you check your tyre pressure at all in 4 months?

I personally check tyre pressures at least fortnightly and run 38f 36r. Most tyre shops I find unreliable in setting pressures I'm happy with.

Can I ask what pressure your tyres are inflated to?

A bit of a gimmick in my opinion.

Agreed, that's what I don't like about the whole nitrogen idea, if you have to top up at the servo you're wasting your money.

Plus, if the main benefit (at least for a road use passenger car) is that air leaks slower, and I check my tyres regularly anyway then there is no point.

Well Kieran, I normally check at the automated unit at the woolworths on Blackburn road, near the freeway exit, before traveling up to the BP to fill up. This normally occurs on Saturday early morning when I get the Saturday Age.

And the last time I checked was today when I filled up as I will be working all weekend.

I asked for you to activate my trap card, and you have because you are proving why Nitrogen is not a gimmick.

If you are checking the tyres when they are at varying temperatures due to being driven on recently, you are not putting in the pressure you think you are.
Check at home and pump up at home when the car hasn't been used.

Yes and No.

I knew where you were going with your question, but I didn't want to add that I've also cross checked this pump with the 4psi hot cold tyre pressure difference rule and hence I reckon that the 38f 36r at this servo is fine.

If I was to start the compressor each time I pumped the tyres, that early in the morning, the neighbors would hate me.

Also given the servo is less than 1.5kms and the car isn't even warmed up and the outside temp you'd hardly think the tyres or air within would have heated significantly to distort readings.

At what level was your fuel tank filled to?
How perfect is the alignment of your car?
Is every road you travel on an identical camber?

Absolute load of bullshit made to sell $0.03c of nitrogen to you as a 95% blend or so (as theyre tightarses and get all the byproducts of compressing inclusing co2, o2, oils and shit into the tanks) for $10.

Long story short, you're a sucker. The air you breathe is already 78% nitrogen. At most they aim to remove a little co2 to save from minute leaks of co2 through the permeability of the rubber. Which still happens with nitrogen at tyre joints as their nitrogen has co2 in it anyway.

That is still 100% completely separate from my first 4 points above, next time tell them no thanks, regular old air like is used in every other car tyre is fine and you'll pocket your $40 and spend it with them on refitting your tyres a few times to use as little weight as possible to balance.
