Morning all! Probably been done a dozen times I know, but thought I would get the latest views from my fellow Liberty owners.

I have a 2004 GT Wagon and have finally purchased a set of Volk CE28N's for my ride. I was looking for some info on what was the best tyre to use with these rims! and will I need hub rings fitted or not!

The rims came with well worn 235/40/18's but after a little drive I have noticed that the rears are rubbing on the wheel arch. The fronts don't seem to rub. Car is yet to be dropped but will soon be fitted with Teins.

So any advise on what size, make and ''the right place to purchase'' in Sydney would be very much appreciated.

If you get tyres, I got Yokahama R01's I think they were, they seem good allround performance tyre.

Stock tyre size is 215/45/17, so with the 235 size on the rear, I am assuming that is why your scrubbing.

Swap it back to a 215 size and you shouldn't have any dramas.

I mean people have 19's and lowered and if done right don't have any dramas.

Thanks for that mate! the 235's are what the rims were wrapped in when I bought them. That is why I have put the feelers out for the correct size and best all round road tyre now that I am buying new.

I'm using Hankook R-S2 Z212. Great value for money, grip is awesome and so is wet handling.

I have put the feelers out for these and am struggling to find somewhere in Sydney that has these tyres in stock.

No longer available in NSW!!! I have been told by 3 different distributers that they no longer make this particular tyre, so I think I will have to find an alternative.

Any other owners mind shedding some light on a reasonably priced tyre for the wagon!

A supplier from Sydney sent me these the other day. Not sure if they are great prices, haven't had chance to check.

Dunlop SP9000 235/40ZR18 $250 each
Falken Azenis RT615 Semi Slicks $265 each.
Arriving 6 October.

Thanks mate! I had a good read up on that Honda forum and a bit more research on the web re the Potenza's. The local tyre dealer was trying to throw maxxis at me for half the price of the Bridgetones which got me thinking ''If I have spent a fair amount on the wheels it seems silly to wrap em in a inferior tyre'' so I think I will go the Bridgestones....... now the ring around to get the best deal.

Had a look on your website btw and will be in touch soon re DBA's and a set of Brembo's at the right price

two things i've always believed you shouldn't go cheap(inferior) on is shoes and tyres.
think about this, if in the life of a set of tyres they let you down just once, how bad could it end up?
when i say "let you down" i mean do or not do what you were expecting.
if you get 25-40K out of your tyres it means possibly 2-5yrs depending on how much and how you drive.
the sums do not support going cheap in my opinion.but by all means get the best price for good tyres. it can vary alot dealer to dealer.

Agreed, tyres are not something you should go cheap on.

At the same time, there's no point getting some super expensive tyres if you don't drive the car that hard, either

agreed.. thats why im 'trying' to conserve my tyres... but i really dont know how

alignment and pressures are, imo, the most important factors.
