Postby Pat04 » Sun Sep 25, 2011 11:58 pm

hi guys,

this topic must've been here already and i apologise if im repeating it but would someone please assist me in choosing the right springs for my liberty 05 n/a?!?! teins, pedders, kings, eibachs,...etc etc how much and what else do i need?!?! worst case scenario i would get coilovers but i just a nice sporty lowered look whic would not compromise handling. Please help. Thanks heaps =) Pat

Covered mountains of times!!

1 - replace shock absorbers with the Bilstein ones available from Wheelpower & pair them with a set of PHAT Tein S-Techs - $500 for Bilsteins picked up plus approx $430 for springs
2 - keep existing KYB shock absorbers & go for a lowering spring to keep it cheap (King Springs, Pedders etc etc) - $330 for Kings approx Pedders quoted me $700 for springs & fitting
3 - BC coilovers - $1200 from eBay I think

I've gone for option 1 as it's a safe option because I know many have done it & it definitely helps with handling

EDIT: prices added

Nice summary of options. Worth noting that option 2 will lessen the life of your shock absorbers. I am presently doing option 1 fwiw. The Wheelpower Bilsteins cost $2k if you get them from Subaru.

Option 1 would be the way to go on your car.

Yep only NSW but freight is cheap.. I'd be happy to pick them up for you & freight to your place using E-GO if you like? $20 is all it cost me to freight 4 wheels from Melbourne to Sydney..

sorry about the late post. Thanks all for the suggestions. Option 1 does sound more realistic and applicable to my needs. But one last thought, is it necessary to put the bilsteins on or can i just go order a set of the Tein Phat editions springs??? again thank you for your thoughts

It has been noted that the KYBs paired with Teins can provide a very harsh ride. Highly suggested to upgrade the shocks as well. In saying that, the costs add up so search BC coilovers on eBay & you'll find some very affordable options

Upload pictures to a site like Photobucket or imgur.com. Then all you need to do is use the IMG code and paste in the forum

Super lows in front, might have even had SSL in the rear. I still had half an inch of space before it got any close to the tire still.

im interested to know why you would replace the springs that come with the ebay bilsteins for the S techs. In what way are the S techs superior? Do they lower the ride height further than the springs that are already in the billys.

I want to get the bilsteins but am unsure of how much it will drop my wagon (04 GT) by? Ive heard 1 inch? Id like to drop it more than that and if the S techs help me do that than Ill pony up the extra to get them.

The billies alone will not drop the height of your ride, if you want low then chuck on some S techs, but they must be 'phat edition' ones as I believe normal Tein S Techs are designed for JDM bilsteins, phat has a special edition that suit our AUDM bilsteins much better..

Hope this helps
