If anyone actually bought tyres from Tire Rack, can you please confirm if the $1000 import limit includes the cost of freight or not. So if the 4 tyres cost $900 and freight is $267 making $1167 total, is the figure used by Customs $900 or $1167?

its $1000AUD combined.

you can ask Jonas to split the shipment into two consignments to avoid duty tax or draw up a 'fake' invoice. i havnt done the fake invoice with Jonas@TireRack but i have done it with other overseas purchases.

This is from an email sent to me from a Senior Customs and Border Protection Officer:

"Freight/postage and insurance charges are not included when determining the value of the goods for the purposes of the AU$1000 threshold"

Have heard the same thing from a friend who just received his tires.

Anyone know what that means/ why their are three different prices for the same wheel?

When ordering it says:

"The specially-priced closeout items you are buying are first quality products covered by applicable manufacturers' limited warranties. They are, however, available only until our current inventory is depleted"

One is for Porsche another merc and the other looks generic. I'd say the first two are oem specific. Check out the re050a PP for pole position. Apparently a fantastic variation of our oem re050.

I just ordered a set of Hotchkis sway bars from them :)

If anyone's after stuff from Tirerack, let me know (i.e. PM me). I am part of a group buy which is getting stuff sent via sea, would be heaps cheaper if you didn't need your items straight away.

Are you sure you are not visiting Tirerack.NG?

They told me this too, so I emailed back and asked if I could do it via Credit card and I didnt hear back.

I have read a few reviews online about tirerack.com with mixed responses. Decided against purchasing from them. Prices are really good though.

I think the bank wire transfer is due to having some credit card fraud problems.

That's why I leave it for someone else to organise the group buy, with just a set amount I have to pay :)

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but thought it would be better than to start a new one.

For those who have purchased from tirerack, how long was the wait on shipping?

I emailed about some tyres and gothis reply
Recent rules governing shipments allowed by the manufacturers have policies in place restricting products being exported into Australia.

BF Goodrich, Bridgestone, Continental, Michelin, Firestone, General, Pirelli, and Yokohama have all recently placed export restrictions on their products and will no longer allow us to ship into Australia and other European nations. This is a recent policy change and we are continuing to work through the details. Other manufacturers are considering similar positions and may draw up policies of their own banning any shipments outside of the US, Canada and Mexico.

I am upset to report this as you and many other international clients have been very loyal to The Tire Rack. Please understand, this is a manufacturer's policy of which we have to abide.
