What suspension to get in laymans terms haha

Hey guys want to firm up and lower my 3.0's suspension

I have looked through the thread but don't really understand what's what.

Can some one tell me where and how much they paid for for there set up.

I don't want to spend $1000's but still want an all right set up

Or

Would it be worth just keeping my stock suspension and getting front and rear sway bars etc, I was going to get these anyway but will they make a massive difference with my stock suspension

There's a big difference when having sways. Feel alot less roll turning having front and rear's done.

I got a set of used aftermarket coilovers + sways and plan to do front control bushes and so far it's transformed the entire car :D

I was going to go the Bilstein+Teins springs but love the adjustably of the coilovers

Yeah can see a massive difference. I want to lower it about an inch though. Would something like pedders coil over be alright or something more based on sports cars.

well pedders would cost around what $1800 installed?

They are adjustable and have heard nothing but good reports. Supposably rebranded BC coilovers. (Bit more $$ but adjustable height and dampers)

Then would give you the option to go sways after..


other option is $500 bilstein struts and tein springs $455 to give you your 25-30mm drop. (downside is it's not adjustable but cheaper)

Yeah that sound better but I recon at the moment I'll just get sway bars and strut bar. Went in a car with the stock springs and had sway bars and it was 150% better

Don't waste your money on a strut bar, get PHAT's lower control arm bushes instead.
Way more of an improvement over sways in my opinion.
But get sways and bushes

+1 sways and bushes. strut bar only for engine bay bling or later if your going into other braces as it's not a bang for buck suspension mod

Ok how much are the lower arm bush's and can I do it my self or can I get it done when I buy them

Well the two strut bars i have had in my previous cars i FWD and AWD didnt notice a thing.

The best you can do with the bushes is to jack the car up, take off the 2 lower control arms which is pretty easy, and take them to a workshop. You need some 3000 pound press or some such machine to get the stock bushes out and put the new bushes in. Personally I just got the workshop to do it all for me, as I didn't have a 2nd car available to get there and back home :D
Also requires a wheel alignment afterwards, but that's only about $40

And AndySti, front Strut tower bar only provides a bit more long term rigidity apparently, doesn't do much for performance....as Arith once said, 90% bling 10% performance.

You can do them with a bench vice if you're awesome :p

Performanceshock have a set of legacy Ohlins PCV steel strut dampers and springs. They'll offer you any spring rate and height you like just by speaking to the guys. Its only a few measurements to work it all out. By far the best value for money subaru suspension buy in the world right now considering theyre 50% off and the AUD is so good.

I found them in need of a serious revalving, way too boat like. Absolutely incredible ride quality but definitely valved for the yanks. If you factor in the dyno time and a revalve they could be brilliant....
