Bilstein Spring Adjustment???

Probably a silly question but I'm struggling to understand what this guy means by "spring adjustment".

Below is the description of a set of Billies recently sold on eBay. Could someone shed some light on this?

"They will fit all Gen 4 Subaru Liberty models from late 2003 to 2009 including 2.0R, 2.5i, 3.0R and GT models.

The springs have been re-set to give a lower ride height. The front struts will lower the car by approximately 1” and the rear struts by approximately 0.8”.

The bolts on the rear top hats have been changed to longer ones as a spacer was being used on top of the strut so longer ones were fitted. Brand new cone lock nuts and washers will be supplied to you for re-fitting.

These would be a perfect upgrade to anyone with a non-Spec.B Liberty who wants better quality shocks than their standard ones for better handling and want to lower their car at the same time.

They would also be perfect for someone who already has a Spec.B Liberty and wants to keep a fresh set of shocks for when their current Bilstein shocks start to soften out, just swap your current springs into these and you have a virtually new suspension set up."

I was under the impression that shorter springs were needed to adjust the ride height...

The springs he is selling are shorter.

they have been heater up and "squashed" then cooled to make them physically shorter.
that is what "Re-setting" a spring is.

it's not usually an ideal solution, but that all depends on the individual spring itself

Thanks guy's.

I have never heard of this as I've always purchased springs at the desired height.
There would definitely increased fatigue & stress to consider in this process, doesn't sound too healthy.

$370 he got for them.

Depends on how hot the spring was heated to and how quickly it was cooled. If done right, it'll be as good, possibly better than OEM. Just the properties of the material used
