Sorry if it's already been covered, but what brand of paint do you use mate? or do you have it custom mixed? Also do you clear coat/cut?

I use VHT hi temp primer and caliper clear.

The color is made up at an auto paint supplier if cuctom or matched to car. Standard colors are VHT also.

No point to polishing clear on brakes.

So I really havent put up any step by step pics.....

Your standard, shitty, on the car paint job where EVERYTHING gets painted.....

Image

Remove and clean paint off bleed nipple, nipple cap, seals, seal rings. Remove pistons, inspect and clean crowns.

Image

Image

Push pistons in, cover with two layers of tape and an O ring to seal it tightly, cut excess tape off.

Image

Image

Sandblasted.

Image

Paint.

1 coat hitemp primer, 3 coats color, 3 coats clear.

Image

Standard s/h shims, clips and pins. All get cleaned.

Image

Painted and all back togther.

Cool nice write up Mark, just a couple of Q's:

1) Do you plug up the brakeline and bleed valve fittings with grub screws, small bolts or something to prevent paint getting inside the caliper?

2) If applying a decal, does it get put on before the clear coat?

3) How do you clean the clips? They look completely polished. Stitched mop perhaps or just elbow grease??

Love your work :air_kiss:

Brakeline entry is plugged via a piece of reinforced hose with the oem banjo bolt and washers in place. Can be seen in the pics. Taped out for painting.

Bleed nipple is left in and taped out for sandblast and painting.

Decals go over the top after clear. I prefer this way as you can change decals colors at anytime without affecting paint. Car washing, driving, etc doesnt affect decal. High quality vinyl specifically for this purpose.

Clips are cleaned via a very light pass with the sandblaster. Bleed nipples and pins are wire wheeled then scotch brite wheeled.

Cheers

No, and they may never get fitted in that color as the recipient isnt sure about his color choice now.
