Be wary of "more or less fits".
I had a Volkswagen 2003 Bora V6 4Motion as my previous car - it had a 2.8L narrow-angle V6 engine (transversely mounted), 6-speed manual and Haldex AWD system. The Mk4 Gold R32 had essentially the same drivetrain (3.2L V6 instead of 2.8L, but the gearbox and Haldex AWD system were identical). The Bora was a 4-door sedan, the R32 was a 3-door hatch (mostly, there a very limited number of 5-door R32s in Europe). There was also an Audi S3 (8L model) with exactly the same setup as the R32 as well (including the 3.2L engine), and also, I believe, a Beetle (which is where the 3.2L engine actually first came from).
Bilstein specced the same PSS9 coilover kit for the Golf R32, Bora V6 4Motion and Audi S3 - the hardpoints were all the same, the stock suspension geometry was all the same, etc). I even had R32/S3 front suspension parts (bushings, arms, tie rods, etc ) on my car, as although they were identical in dimensions, they had upgraded joints in them, were made of lighter weight/stronger materials, etc).
With all the similarities between these cars, the rear springs on the PSS9 set were bound (completely) at rest on my car, yet sat fine on an R32, both with exactly the same ride height set. The difference as it was eventually explained to me was the additional weight of the boot, sitting further back behind the rear axles than on the hatch models, meant that there was enough of a weight difference at the back that the springs acted differently, and a much stiffer spring was required in the rear of the sedan than the hatch.
In the end, I removed the PSS9s completely, sold them to an R32 owner for something like half what I'd paid for them barely 6 months beforehand, and went back to, amusingly enough, R32 shocks and springs at the front, and R32 shocks at the rear with custom springs.
So "more or less fits" can be painful. Be careful there.
