I'm not sure why people are so scared of brake dust, it comes off when you wash the car.

Doesn't the evidence of brake dust indicate the brakes working?

Cos it looks shit until you do and if it has rained in between then its a bastard to get off and fiddly on multi-spoked wheels.

I had super dusty (and v high performing) Porterfield pads in the TypeR - never again!

I find it amazing how many Navara and Pathfinder owners happily drive around with black wheels on the front and silver on the back :D

And no - evidence the brakes are working is how fast the car stops :D

I have a feeling that the level of brake dust is indicative of how abrasive the brake pad is. I.e. if the brakes function mostly by contact transfer rather than friction, then there is lesser dust. In the latter case I imagine the brake dust is not just the brake pad material, but also metal from the rotor as well.

So does dirt, mud, and grime. But I don't want those on my car either when I'm driving. :D

I have seen a set of Porterfield pads shatter a rotor during an endurance test.

What's wrong with brakes dust……..they make my wheels look better then the oem silver finish…. Saved me buying a Charcoal set

I think you apply that attitude towards your car as well. Because your car used to be white! It's only dark silver from the years and layers of dirt. :D

My car is a custom coloured silver. It's got a brown tinge to it. Until I wash it, that is...

Most domestic service and brake places as well as the people working there have never even heard of Dixcel. So you may not get very far trying to acquire a set. Best just to contact Phat GT at forumparts@gmail.com and order them that way.
