Wow, that's a great price!

Thanks for the help team.

Contacted Adam at Tuspeed and he certainly seems like a decent bloke. So now have a set of braided lines on the way at a cost of $380 :D

Now, should I kick this thing of again and ask what sort of brake fluid I should use??

Ok, so here's some prices for group buy - they aren't that great as they are normally $175 US from this guy, worth asking though. Clarance, feel free to see if there's interest in a group buy.

Andrew,

Here is some discount pricing for your group:

5-9 sets $160 ea
10-14 sets $150 ea
15+ $140 ea

Shipping is extra and works out to $10/set

Thanks and let me know if you are interested.

My vote is for Motul but there are plenty of good brands, just don't get cheap stuff :D

Thanks Andrew. That's for a set of six lines, right?

TasTrooper based on the fact that you're gonna fit the S/S lines suggests you will drive the car pretty hard or even track it once in a while. In that case you will be up for replacing the brake fluid every 6-9months.

I would be using Motul DOT5.1 in that case.

If it is a daily driver then I would use any of the Super DOT4 fluids such as from Castrol so that you only need to replace the fluid every 12-15 months. (The 5.1 absorbs moisture more quickly).

The main reason I'm changing the pads and lines is because the brakes were pretty well below average. The last two cars I've had were WRXs and the wife's current car is a Honda Jazz, and the brakes in the Jazz feel like formula 1 brakes after the Liberty.

With a bit of luck I should have a machine with reasonable brakes in a few days :D

Well the braided lines arrived today. All up it cost me $390 from Tuspeed, who got them made by Race Brakes! (Race Brakes told me that it would cost me $110 for each of the six hoses?!?!)

So now she has a set of Endless pads, braided lines, a bunch of Dot4 and I have adjusted the brake pedal so that is at the same level as the accelerator, instead of an inch higher.

The end result is a set of brakes that feel sharper and they have a bunch more bite than before. Nothing spectacular, but I'm pretty happy.

And I think that I have half crushed one of my fingers in the process.

Does anyone know if there is an order in which you should bleed the brakes??????

If your car's a manual, I'd suggest getting the brake pedal higher than the throttle pedal to allow for heel-toe changes. The brake as you might notice travels a bit. Another reason I wouldn't be adjusting the position of the brake pedal down is that you'll have less pedal travel in the event you suffer from fade.

I dropped the brake pedal because whenever I had to apply the brakes I had to make a really exaggerated foot movement to get at the pedal, and that takes time. I figure that if the day ever comes where I've started to run out of pedal travel, the second that I save getting my foot on the brake will give me time to pump it :D

This Lib is an auto. I'm not really an auto kind of guy, but I inherited this one, so I'll just have to put up with it :)

If you are worried about reaction time to get onto the brake I believe teaching yourself to left foot brake will make more of a difference. My left foot hovers over the brake pedal all the time. Only time it comes away the pedal is when I want to use the clutch. In an auto my left foot doesn't come away from the brake pedal until I am climbing out of the car.

Been using the left foot to brake for ages and it is now way easier because I don't have to lift my left leg into the air to do it.
