I've been recommended Michelin pilot sport 3 by a mate. What's the verdict around here?

Great tyre, sticky, soft compound, low mileage, very expensive compared to other brands.

Cheers shav!

Any recommendations for others that have higher mileage/better priced in other brands?

From the reviews Ive read. Goodyear Asymmetric 2, Nitto Invo, Kuhmo KU39. Slightly less on the grip factor, but better mileage and price. Unless you are pushing it hard on the track I doubt you will notice the full difference on the street.

$195 each for 235/40/18 isn't that expensive I would have thought

My H6 is actually 17 inch and was going for 159$. Is that still expensive compared to others?

Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5 tyres cost $249 per corner. I have these in 235/40/R18 on stock rims and have done 30K on them now without any rotation, alignment or balance . Not good practice I know but I have just been slack. Anyway, from what I can see outside and under the car they have worn really evenly and not that quickly. For the price I think they are an excellent tyre but I have never taken them on the track. Very grippy and quiet, no noise change after 30K. You can tell the extra width makes the steering heavier so I am considering looking whether I can run narrower tyres on the front with same RD. If anyone has done this let me know.

I believe there are better options available.
My RS2's got noisy at the end (fault of the car, not the tyre) and the noise gets to you after a while.

Almost impossible to get the same rolling diameter. I'd put up with the heavier steering, the stock Liberty steering is too light to start with (particularly on the Post-FLs with the 3.3 turn rack).

Are you still running the stock 7" GTB wheels? I would have thought 235 was too wide. 215 is the stock size. Going up to 225 fits 7" ok, but isn't 235 too wide?

I changed from stock 215/45R18 to 225/45R18. The RD increase means the speedo is now a little more accurate. (Kumho KU31)

Did you have any scrubbing issues at any time?
I was wanting to go to this size on stock Post facelift 18s but was worried about scrubbing and handling issues...

Your thoughts please?
