Yes we all have the phat s techs. The normal ones don't fit. The front end is epic high with them for some reason.

The ride is quite firm with s techs. Very noticbly Harsher ride than pinks, which I used to have.

Maybe the extra weight of the 3:0 in my case will make it more level....

That's weird. Most people seem to say the pinks are very harsh and that following a change to various aftermarket springs the handling was improved/more settled and the ride was improved too.

My mate bought a new 2007 Gtb Sti and I remember him saying then that others with the same car had the pink springs changed because they were shit.

The phat s techs fit our cars fine, it was the JDM s techs that didn't fit.

I would call the ride with s techs the same as a stock wrx.

I had Pinks before the S Techs.

S Techs were noticeably LESS harsh than the pinks. A much more compliant ride with the S Techs.

Great - seems like I made the right choice then. :D Just waiting for my order from phat for the S-techs and other stuff like sways to come thorough.

Just out of interest, why didn't the JDM s tech fit? I would have thought that JDM Legacy suspension would be structurally similar to that of export cars apart from specific spring and shock tuning etc.
And does that mean that any shocks (either OEM or aftermarket) that are specially for JDM Legacies can't be used on our cars?

I have Bilsteins (from Wheelpower) and Phat S Techs as well. The firm ride is fine with me but they do bottom out a lot. E.g. The seam across the road where the road joins with a bridge, if its a little more raised than normal (country road say) will cause them to bottom out whereas normally that would just be a little bump. Would getting the Bilsteins revalved help?

I have found that in the last couple of months my fronts have actually pushed down even further or something, and probably done damage to my billies.
Sometimes find myself bottoming out on dips in the road. It's pretty annoying to be honest. Coupled with the rears that have had a knocking noise since the day they were installed.

Can't wait to get rid of them and get some BC BR coilovers in, may even have to purchase some Replacement billies before they run out at wheelpower, so I can put it back to stock properly for the next owner. Revalving them would cost the same anyway.

Haven't experienced them bottoming out yet. I do crawl over speed bumps/dips though so maybe that could be why.

I'm talking just a slight incline followed by a decline. Nothing to do with speed humps. I have heard a couple of people with similar problems but the majority do fine with Billies and S-techs.
I'm just one of the unlucky ones I guess. But it's a great reason to go for coilovers.

Would have to agree with this.

S-tech and Billies rides like the MY03 Sti that I use to have.

Yea it's a great "stock firm" feel I guess. :D.

Noo never worked it out. Took it for a quick spin over some speed bumps ect after I noticed it and it fixed itself, weird :S.

For those of you with Tein S-techs and billies bottoming out - how old were your billies when you changed to tein springs? I just ordered the phat tein s-techs and now I'm being put off from this thread worrying about damaging by billies!!
