Buying tyres online

Postby Nooobness » Wed Nov 12, 2014 1:09 pm

Hey guys!

My set of XXR527's arrived this morning in the mail (18x8.75+35), and im planning to get some new tyres for it :)
I have a MY05 3.0r sedan

Does anyone know where to get good/cheap tyres from?

I found this site called International Tyre Trader http://www.tyretrader.com.au/ which is really cheap, but Im a bit skeptical of it
Has anyone had experience with them before?

Thanks!

Jon

Its just a matter of shopping around. It will be rare that any tire place will do you wrong. You just got to ask what their best price is and if they are willing to price beat it if you found another price. Also depends on the brand tire your going for.

Be very wary of "cheaper" sellers and old tyres (tyres have their week of manufacture stamped on them, anything more than 12 months old and I personally wouldn't buy them.

Got a set of Continental's through international tyre trader a few months ago, I was a bit sketchy on them as well when I ordered but had a phone call the next day to confirm the shipping address and the Tyres arrived in Brisbane the day after that. Overall was a impressed with their service and saved about 750ish on going to local tyre store.

Do you know if the stock is fairly new? Did you ask the manufacturing date before they sent them to you?

Cheers

West coast USA from memory

Their stocks turn over fast, yet to hear of anyone getting anything less than 2 months old.

I bought tyres/rims from tirerack, and it was pretty straightforward. If tire rack have old stock tyres, they put them in as a separate product and sell them cheaper. Tire rack is *massive*.

Be aware that Tire Rack have stopped selling some products to overseas customers, as a result of "meddling" by the tyre manufacturers. You may have difficulty getting tyres from them shipped to Australia which are available through official channels locally.

Also be aware that tyre model names/designations can be allocated to tyres with completely different designs in different markets.
