15 inch rims on Gen 4 3.0l

Postby AllyJack » Tue Oct 01, 2024 1:21 pm

Sorry for my first post being a question, but can I fit a 15inch rim on a 2005 Gen 4 Liberty 3.0ltr?
I'm using this car for bitumen and dirt Khanacross events, and want the 15 inch rims for rally tyre fitment

Cheers
AJ

Probably not.
The stock rims are 17". The 15" rims are likely to hit the front brake calipers.

(My SpecB 2006 model came with 18" rims, and I had a set of 17s for competition use.)

Ummmm.....

NO

The 3.0RB has 17 inch brakes which means that 17inch wheels are required.

Mine was a SpecB, AllyJack seems to have a plain 3.0R, but that still needs 16" wheels.

Edit: Actually, that table doesn't mention SpecB, just "EH model" whatever that is.

Only the EH Option Code 3.0R has the smaller 16 inch brakes.
The Australian 3.0R is KA Option Code.
The Australian 3.0R has the 17 inch brakes

Thanks Ric and BillyCorgi for the help. 17" wheels it is, now to find an all terrain tyre that fits

Where are you?
I have a set of four 17" rims sitting in my garage in Melbourne looking for a new home.

I once knew a person who successfully ran 16 inch wheels over the 17inch brakes with absolutely zero clearance and some light skimming by the calipers on the inside of the wheels.
He did it because of too many potholes where he lived.

Ric, I'm in central queensland, thanks for the offer though.

BillyCorgi, that might be worth a look. I tried a 17inch rim today and there seems a bit of room to the caliper. We have a Y62 Patrol with Method rims and bugger all clearance to the calipers, and it's been everywhere without issue.
I'll see if I can borrow a 16" rim and check it out

Thanks lads
