Brake pads for 04 GT

I have an 04GT and begining to feel the brakes are getting soft compared to my VW Passat wagon. Both wife and mum are starting to complain.

Any recommendations to replace the standard pads and where? I'm located in Melbourne.

I'm also thinking to fit on the strut bars - both front and rear to stiffen up the handling.

The brakes on these cars are under rated.

You have to use too much brakes and when you do, the pad and the rotors does down. Not only that, more liable to warp the rotors.

First of all, to firm things up and add some heat resistance,

1) DBA 4000 6x6slot Rotors
2) Braided lines
3) Motul RBF600 Brake Fluid
4) Nice street pads like Ferodo's or equivalent.

There you go, all set and ready

I've used the Ferodo DS2000, they stop well but dust a lot. I'm currently using the Hawk Ceramics, they have little dust but there's less braking bite.

i had hawks, they did alright

If you drive casual hawk or any normal pad will work.

But if you live in twist areas or havy brake usage, ferodo's are the way to go or equavilent pad. The hotter these become, the more grip it is.

Sometimes you have to sacrifice a little inconvenience for performance

Thanks. I'm keen to try the pads first and the rotors later if the braking isn't up to my expectations. What's the cost like?
