The largest tyre/wheel combination fitted to a Gen 3 Liberty was a 215/45/18 on the B4 twin turbo with a rolling diameter of 625.3mm
The Outback has 215/60/16 with a 664.4mm rolling diameter.

You need to confirm that the change in rolling diameter is legal on your model variant.

You advise that these tyres are 225/50/18 which have a 656.8mm rolling diameter.
Increase of 31.5 over the B4 tyre/wheel combination yet under the Outback.
So, the wheels and tyres should fit under the guards.
Is your Gen 3 an outback?
If not, I would check with your local Transport Authority.
Would they classify the Outback wheel/tyre sizes as being applicable to a Liberty?

They will fit fine, and shouldn't have any impact on roadworthiness.
