Finding tyres to suit 18 x 8.5 +35 rims

I've just bought new rims but I'm having trouble finding the right tyre for them. The offset is a bit too aggressive on my car and even with guard rolling and camber I think I will still need slightly stretched tyres.

I know this will mean the tyres won't be used at their full potential but I still want good performance tyres.

The rims are 8.5" wide and I have been told I need a 225 tyre, the problem with that is I was planning on getting federal 595 rsr or evo but I have been told their 225 is more like a 235 because of the stiff sidewall.

I've been looking into other brands but I'm not sure if they will be the same.

Would anyone know if nankang ns-2 or a continental tyre would give me a little bit of stretch? I've spoken to a few tyre places but they haven't really been able to help.

Any other tyres like the ones above that you could recommend would be appreciated as well. I'd like to spend under $900 for the set but will go more if i have to.

Have a look at Maxxis iPro. You're not going to get them for $900 but it shouldn't be too much more. I'd stay right away from Nankang and any of the cheap Chinese brands. I've had a few sets of iPros and they are really good tyres. Yes they are made in Thailand but I've never had a problem with them and they stick like baby shit to a blanket. I'd also be looking more towards a 235 as it's a better fit for an 8.5. If you are really determined to do the stretch thing don't go under 225 as you are compromising your safety and risking being defected

I have 595rsr in 225 and they are relatively wide. They look very similar to some 235 khumos I have in the shed - Both on 7.5" rims.

If you are going for a narrower tyre it might not be your best bet.

If it was me I would put 235 on an 8.5" rim on a lib (245 on a car where they are easier to fit). If it had fitment issues I would do guard work or get different rims.

Fit higher spec 225's, roll guards, run negative front camber, maybe a rear camber kit and dont go stupid low.

With those specs you'll need a 225. Yes 235 is ideal on an 8.5 wheel, but your offset is too low.

Any brand 225 will fit, it's only minimal stretch.

do you have coilovers? I assume you do because you mentioned camber.

i have 18 x 8.5 +38 with 235/40/18, no scrubbing issues. Running -3 front camber and -1.5 rear. And its low, tucking front and rear with guards rolled.
It's not an aggressive fitment, it's perfect- you should be fine. 235/40/18 is pretty popular too so the prices are good from what i've found.

235/40/18 is oem Commodore and Ford spec so tyres are indeed abundant and cheaper than 225/40/18's.
