They know their shit, too!

I have heard good things about Heasmans from friends who take their cars there. You should be in good hands.

Bit of a thread hijack.
Yes I have bc-v1
And going from lock to lock get a clunking noise like the spring is winding up and releasing .
Top nut is tight on both sides. If I back the top nuts off the noise bassicly goes away tighten them back up comes back .

Is it a bc problem or a easy fix or should I just go some whiteline solid top mounts/hats

They are just breaking in IMHO ;)
But try the recommended 40ft lbs torque (iirc) on the top nuts.

Jack car at front on stands...
Spray ptfe or lithium grease on captive balls in the strut top bearings. Let it well in the depression around the bearing.
Turn lock to lock a few times, wonder at the changes in strut geometry visible from the drivers seat - you'll see the adjuster angles change slowly.
Whilst the car is in the air, hit the spring hats top and bottom with the spray lube and do same for the interfaces between the top bearings and the spring top hats.
Refill the top bearings from the top with the spray grease (it evaporates) and do some more turns lock to lock (be gentle as you reach lock - dont want to blow the seals).
Check the lube in your front swaybars at this time too.

It may still knock after all that, so lots of driving FTW.
Mine stopped binding altogether after I drove it also in the rain :P
