Need Advice Tyres + Rims

Postby climic » Mon Feb 27, 2012 9:20 pm

I am currently have some Tenzo Cuzco V1 on order and I want to know what tyre size + brand i should go? (235/225) / (40/35) / 18!

Also with offsets would +45 be ok for both front and rears?

Or should I get +45 in rears and like +37 - 39 in fronts?

Also take into consideration I am going to in the future purchase myself some BC BR so any helpful information would be well appreciated :D

I've had great experience with Hankook K110. Very well priced, high performance and good wear. I've had three sets of them across the various vehicles I've owned and could not find a better tyre that lasted as long, for the same money.

I am buying some 225/40R18 HankooK VeNTuS V12 EVO K110 $157.00 each from tire-rack

I have got a quote for wheels from them as well and it is much cheaper but the shipping is killing me. about $450 for wheels and tyres shipped or $350 just tyres, obviously its more $ effective to combine shipping.

So if you wanted to combine shipping with me it would save even more money.

Gah...just noticed you're in TAS....sigh

Remember if your purchase is over $1000 you pay more to the government.
So if you are getting away with a < $1000 purchase by yourself then you have to take government charges into consideration when you combine your purchase.

Any idea how much more you pay to to Govt? I am looking at ordering some wheels/tires from tirerack.com as well and it will be well over $1000

ahhh buying tyres without a DOT approval....
Good luck if you crash into a new merc, would not like to be in your shoes if the insurance people notice your tyres are non DOT......

Just putting it out there.

OK, so I have (wisely) decided to heed advice and NOT buy tires from O/S - "jslayz" is quite correct and they would not have a DOT compliance.

My question is; is there any reason NOT to buy rims from O/S? Do rims have any sort of compliance requirements?

Clarence,

after spotting this today, i had to look at new rubber a few K-km short of when i'd want to replace them

Given a good review from you i've got a set on order from my local shop.
$190 a corner drive in drive out.
as compared with $295 a corner from my other local shop, or $450 for the RE050A's!

yeah the middles are ok 1.5-2mm above the indicators but the edges are pretty trashed.
too much toe in and low pressure when i got it has stuffed the inside edges
and the flogging i've given them wears the outer edges pretty hard too
