Help asap tyre blister

Postby bates91 » Fri Nov 04, 2011 9:44 am

Hey guys
just got back from 4 months away, mums been driving my car every couple of weeks or so. Went out to check on it last night before going out driving with some mates and noticed the rear left tyre has a blister/egg on it. maybe max 3cm x 2cm, i can take pics if anyone thinks thatll help. Got home jumped on google and was like uhoh this isnt good, general consensus is this needs to be replaced asap as it could potentially blow at any moment (worst case scenario)

The sort of scary thing is theres no way mum would notice something like this, so i have no idea whether its been there for 3 months or 3 days...

does anyone have any experience with this or any recommendations?
should i put on the spare wheel for now? or just keep going gently for the next week or so

on the semi-plus side my post-christmas plans for new rims and tyres now seem to be bumped forward to...ahh...as soon as i can get them   so all you modders out there will be happy, cos this now means im getting springs as well. probably lugnuts as well while im at it. and ill have to stop there cos thatll break the bank :D

I wouldn't be using it, nor as a spare, it's not a safe thing. You are risking your life and others, a blow out at 80 or 100 might make you change your mind about taking it 'easy'.

I've had a blowout at 200. Don't recommend it at any speed.
