Rota Gravel 18x8.5's

Postby ljirv12 » Fri Oct 22, 2010 1:34 pm

Gday,

I was after some guidance regarding the fitment of Rota Gravels on a MY05 liberty GT wagon. I know there has been heaps written about them all over this and other forums, but i'm struggling to find the info i need.
I am wondering if the 18x8.5 Gravel's will fit a stock MY05 GT setup without rolling the guards? and if yes what size tyre will work best?
otherwise what do most people use? 18x8's i am pretty certain will fit a stock setup but i have the same question as to the ideal tyre size.

if you guys can help me out, that would be much appreciated

Thanks

8.5s will fit fine, depending on the offset...

i'm pretty sure that the gravels only come in highish offsets so it shouldn't be a problem.

You can see pics of my rims (which are 18 x 8.5 +38) all round in the link below. So any offset higher than +38 won't stick out as much...

Hope this helps

Edit: you would probably want a 235/40 on an 8.5 inch wheel but for reference mine are 225/40

And it does scrub a little bit at the back but I haven't rolled the guards yet, and it's not lowered yet either

Thanks heaps for that guys,

jsut wondering, would 215/45R18 bridgestones fit on a 18x8 gravel with my standard springs? Although i am looking pretty hard at getting some bilsteins that are listed on ebay so would they also fit if i changed the suspension?

Cheers

PS i'm useless on this tyre size business

i have 225/40/18 on my 18x8 ultraleggera's and they fit fine, not even close to scrubbing.

went for 225/40 instead of 215/45 as they are a more common tyre = cheaper

Billies wont make a difference. Find the offset of the wheel to be 100% though.

Currently the one on the above site are 18x8.5 +44 (initially he was bringing in 18x8 +48). Don't know if the wider wheel with less offset would rub?

I'm looking at getting some in from the US. Approx $1020 landed, in 18x8 +48 - a proven fit.

Any advice from the wheel guru's regarding these two slightly similar setups :?:
