Advice from those that have gone from 18s to 19s

Postby pips06 » Mon May 31, 2010 6:48 pm

Im interested in hearing from people that have gone from an 18 inch rim to 19's, or more to the point, from a 40 profile tyre to a 35.

Im currently running stock springs and rims (Tuned by STI) and am looking to keep the stock springs but go to a 19inch rim with 35 profile tyre. Can anyone with experience comment on if and by how much the ride quality will be compromised??

Im not sure which tyres i'll be getting as yet, but am certainly open to recommendations for a tyre that manages to balance road noise, ride quality and performance.

Cheers

Ben.

no BS its harder mate. thats our experience anyway

Although the Bilstein/STi pink are terrible setup, they were still comfortable, if not floaty. When I swapped to the 19's the ride is still quiet, comfortable, and acceptable. Sure, sharp bumps and road holes had greater impact when you come across them, but overall the experience was good. Finding the right set of tires that won't force you to feel every road imperfection is key when you're not changing your suspension.

I may be crazy, but me and all my mates agree that my car is 10X better with 19s. Ride and noise. Could be to do with the tyres, but i went from 18" Yokohama's to 19" Yokohama's so im not sure. But I would never go back now (although, ask me again when i have to buy new tyres  )
