What's with all the streaks; it looks like they weren't bedded in properly (uneven brake pad deposits). Either that or you reused old pads which were not perfectly faced?

yeah, i re-used the hawk ceramics that were on there and had only done about 5000.
that pic was taken after about 6k's of driving and i'm hoping that the slots and holes would even out the pads.
do you think this will happen?
i did ask him to rub them on the concrete to give them a more even surface but of course you don't discover whether or not he has until you've done some driving.
unfortunately i didn't have time to go out bed them as i had to get my baby home to have a sleep and my wife needed that car to pick up our 2 other monkeys.

Normal use isn't going to face them up properly if there are already uneven deposits on the disc.

If they have not been bedded in properly then you're going to wear your discs and pads much more quickly since they will be working mostly by abrasion and less by having a protective interface layer. The latter only occurs when there is bedding in, and if there isn't constant light driving which eventually scrubs away the interface layer. You then have to partially bed them in again.

Your best bet now is to bed them in and hope for the best. I always find it's a pain to do as it is seldom easy to find a nice quiet strip of road near where the pads have been fitted, where you can do multiple stops eventually going up to 80kph braking to 5kph without pissing traffic off or hitting traffic lights/intersections. Perhaps take the car out at 3am?

It all depends on how badly worn your pads were, even if there are only 5k on them, IMO is not worth chewing out your new rotors, also make sure the excess pad dust does not fill the slots or the holes, while your bedding them in.

You maybe able to shave the pads for better contact and to create a flat surface, not sure if giving them a rub on the drive way will work.

i just spent a bit of time on epping road attempting to bed these buggers properly. streaks (as tek-- put it ) are now much more uniform so lets hope i've done it properly.
if not i'll grab some dixcel M's off of the phat-man.
