Just a quick question, on the fuel door it says '95 RON ONLY' and I think I read somewhere that the pre MY07 GT's had to run on 98 RON only, so is it okay to use 98 RON in an my07 GT? Or would it run better using 95 RON?
I had to drive an extra 20km to find a BP that wasn't out of 98 RON today, and when I drove in to Caltex to get Vortex I noticed it didn't tell me what the Octane rating was, so I assumed it was 95 and I would like to run my car on 98 only if I can, assuming it is better for the engine and provides more power.

Caltex Vortex is 98 RON
Shell V-Power is 98 RON
Mobil Synergy is 98 RON

and you know about BP.

It is fine to run 98 RON in your car.

Generally speaking, what is featured on your fuel cover / door in the minimum RON rated fuel you should be using in the car.

From my past experiences, 98 RON fuel always gives you a smoother drive & generally does give you more mileage per tank (Mmmm, sounds like a commercial ). So regardless of if you have a GT or a 2.5 N/A, I'd personally be running the fuel you can get all the time.

I have a Caltex fuel card, and this correct. 95 is like a dark green black label, 98 is white/grey with a red '98'. I find some servos will have one or the other, some will have both. Kinda annoying if I have to hunt around for one with 98. Generally Safeway ones don't have 98.

I've always used only 98RON since it first became available about 10-12 years ago, it gives good security against detonation in hot weather/high loads. The only exception is in rural areas where I would use 95RON in a pinch.
