Engine difference GTB vs STI GT

Does anybody know if there are actual different parts used between these two specs please? The book indicates the GTB is 184Kw, STi is 194Kw, but is it only tune changes. I would guess the 221Kw WRX engine is internally different. If its only a tune difference in the Libs, could one get Subaru to tune a GTB up to 194Kw, and retain the warranty? I am not so much after much more peak Kw, just a fuller, fatter torque curve....

Been covered in here before,
No engine difference at all - slightly different flash tune and the mandatory requirement for 98RON
Oh and yes get an Opensource flash tune to whatever spec you like (Subaru wont know for warranty anyway)

No difference... Same in the 2.0LT TB STI models... It's just a different tune & as one prominent member told me "The tune by STI just comes with gay shit"

Although I'd love to have Brembo's & TB STI wheels as standard

Unsure about the new WRX STI. I'm pretty sure the standard WRX runs the same / similar gear (TMIC) as the face lifted Gen 4 GT's... But the STI does have different intercoolers etc & back in the day, the STI built cars did have different blocks etc. So guessing that may still be the case today...?
The TB STI ECU can actually be bought from Subaru. But for the amount of money they are going to charge for such minimal gain, I'd suggest a good custom tune is the best way to go.

Boxer,
Can you explain why dealer would not know ecu has been flashed - not obvious to them at all, even if they connect a reader to the OBD-II port? Not visible doing a tune up?
Do you know of anybody in Melb (that you could recommend) who does this sort of stuff ?
I must say that since I have been using 98Oct fuel consistently I am not getting the hesitations or flat spots I used to see, mostly in stop/start traffic....
thanks

OK lets be honest here - when they drive it they'll know something is up. Maaaaybe depending on boost levels they will be able to see increased boost, but that about it.
The Subar select monitor in the hands of your local subaru tech wont show shit. They will check for ECU codes and maybe reset the ecu and look at feedback aparameters at the most (Coolant temps, timing advance, so on and so forth.)
If you were really tricky with a laptop or had a Chiptorque Ezyflash you could even flash back to stock before getting it serviced, then flash back to the aftermarket map when you pick it up.
Not sure who to recommend in Melb with Opensource tools, but I'm sure others will know

They'd tell for sure if they drove it because there would better throttle response, no hesitation/stutter and more power... they'd be like WTF? Better reset the ECU...

Check with Clarence (Tangcla). He seems to know quite a few resources that will do this.

Try Revzone or Horsepower factory in Melbourne for retune.

Hello, just joined up today. I own a 2009 GTB-R Black Sedan 6 speed. I've been looking at this forum for a while now & thought I'd ask for some help. It seems strange to me that my car doesn't have heated seats. I looked at the current new Liberty & could not come to terms with the new shape, thought it drove well but knew I'd never enjoy it from the outside.
I've been happy with the purchase.
Has anyone considered purchasing the factory parts for heated seats (as they seem to be standard in the states) & doing a self install? Or is there somewhere to go to get the job done?

WRX STi
Variable valve on both intake n exhause
VF52
larger (575 maybe?) injectors
i suspect might be forged internals? i know the old ones were.

are these motors the single OHC or DOHC?
Also, it's been asked in another thread but where would you find more info on our motors, like a workshop manual or similar?
cheers
