What is anyone using software wise to check CEL errors on a laptop

I threw another catalytic converter emmission error today and had to check it.

I tried Evoscan but didnt work

I tried EcuExplorer and I think that works OK

Just curious to any other programs that can read errors on a laptop.

The "Reset ECU" will reset the ECU, removing the DTCs

However, just beware that this will remove all learned ECU parameters also, so it may take a little driving for idle to settle down, esp with aircon on etc.

mmm shouldn't affect my tune

Shame you just can't clear the CEL without a reset.

Not in the long run, but every time my ECU gets reset, it takes 2-4 weeks for my car to return back to a post-tuned state. Feels like an absolute slug in the meantime. Guess because the car was tuned to all the previously learned ECU parameters and it takes a while for these parameters to be filled up again? I dunno.

When you do a reset, the Ignition Advance Multiplier (IAM) starts at .75 and works it's way back up to 1.

It's a safety thing that means you are initially using a lot less timing.

If it takes weeks, you don't drive very much!

Ahh, thanks for explaining that to me Tony! I knew there was something behind the sluggish performance. As people kept telling me it's all my imagination that the car feels that way because the reset shouldn't effect the tune (which it technically doesn't).

But yeah, my car is mainly for work. On weekends the Aurion gets used for the family outings (more comfortable and less noisy ).
