Yes apart from the intercooler and turbo but Y is the question I can point you to a couple of places to source them. Short blocks are very cheap from subaru OZ atm too

I need an entire long motor.. I have aftermarket turbo and TMIC, does this mean I will need new ones if I get the WRX STi motor?

Actually I may have told you a lie. If its the 08 onward STI motor it has AVCS on both inlet and exhaust so its different. If its from a 06,07 STI then its intercooler inlet manifold and turbo that are different, the exhaust is too but that shouldn't be an issue. When it says JDM that isn't right as they only have the 2L STI motor in the STI's so that the area of confusion.

You can swap stuff round of course and make it all work heads turbos your inlet and TMIC etc. You'd still need to change pistons headstuds and perhaps rods at least if you want to build up something strong

I found a 08 STi motor here that has spun a baring, its about half the price of the one in Japan, so if I am going to rebuild forged bottom end (the engine is out I may as well) I am guessing that would be the better option. So if I fit the 08 STi motor to my Lib I will have issues with the AVCS, will this be a major issue?.. My engine (Bottom end, block and heads are all stuffed), I didn’t have time to do the last mid service oil change myself, so I got a mechanic in Brisbane to do it and then noticed some noises after about six weeks, after checking the oil I noticed it was pretty low, so I did a change myself and less than 500mL drained out… There was more metal fillings in the oil than oil itself..

hmm not good. I sold an 06 STI motor not long ago ex test motor actually for $5K Did you try the guys in WA they had some STI donks there the other day

http://japanesewholesale.com.au/ ask for a 2.5L 06/07 STI motor see what they have

I know where a set of head of an 07 STI are very low kays they were taken off as a warranty replacement whne the block failed and given to the owner

Have you called Subievolution up there yet ?

If you do, speak to Wes and tell them I sent you :P . They are pretty good with that stuff and local to you. If you were down here I'd point you to a few other places.

Yeah I think I have spoken to every wrecker / Subaru specialist in the country in the last couple of weeks.. Subievolution have the 08 STi with spun baring.. I just can't get conformation as to weather these engines (08 STi) will bolt straight into my Lib without too many issues.. If I know it will work I definitely get it and rebuild the bottom end.. That and the engine in Japan seem to be the only ones around close to what I am chasing..

Dak Dak Pop?

Bummer!

Should be able to fit the complete motor in replacing all the current gear, although your turbo/cooler/etc as has been mentioned, is different to the WRX STi gear so you will either have to bolt on the whole lot, or better still, replace the turbo and leave the rest of the new STi gear!

sorry to hear about your misfortune Adam but you are no orphan I suggest. If money is the issue then do as your suggesting but if you can afford it I would go with a JDM EJ20 long, cosworth gear and nice twin scroll snail...8000 rpm limit and more fun that you can handle.

I have had a look at the cosworth gear but my girl friend has somehow convinced me to take a year off next year to do a bit of travelling, so I have to be somewhat conservative with the engine rebuild..

I have a brand new set of Eagle rods still in the box to suit a 2.5 if that helps. I just sold a new set of CP pistons too

I think you'd be best to pull the thing down first. If the heads are still fine your in luck. You can use any other type because the type and location and number of the cam angle sensors is different (JDM 2L is different too cam sensors are a different type and length even). You can get a new 2.5 block with pistons and everything ready to go for I think 2.8K from subaru. so you just rip everything off the old and put it on the new. All you'd be up for is a set of headstuds maybe and a gasket kit and consumables. No bearings or anything. OK you wouldn't have a forged bottom end but you do that later when you get back from travelling
Edit add an oil pump to that list

The engine is out and has been pulled apart its totally stuffed.. There is damage to the block & heads that is not worth repairing. So its a whole long motor that needs replacing.
